What does a scanner see?
A Scanner Darkly is set in suburban Orange County, California in a future where America has lost the war on drugs. When one reluctant undercover cop is ordered to start spying on his friends, he is launched on a paranoid journey into the absurd, where identities and loyalties are impossible to decode.
It is a cautionary tale of drug use based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and his own experiences. Like a graphic novel come to life, A Scanner Darkly uses live action photography overlaid with an advanced animation process (interpolated rotoscoping) to create a haunting, highly stylized vision of the future.

Phillip K Dick is one of the most inventive, influential and prophetic science fiction writers of the 20th century, end of. The film has a great cast, (especially Robert Downey Juniors excellent, paranoid twitchy performance) and the rotoscope gives it a sufficiently unreal quality. Underrated by far.
A film with great "Substance"

I would porbably give this four and a half stars but play have made this impossible for me...thanks play. This film does look amazing visibly, the way it moves and feels is great. The characters are played very well also by the good cast, who better than keanu reeves to play such a mellow role.
This film also has a really clever storyline. You may have inklings as to what is happening or could possibly happen and when it does happen!!! u may be that guy/gal that says "i figured it out, im top" or you may be pleasantly surprised. either way its a great film and i highly recommend you buying it, especilly at this price.

First off-buy this film!
£2.99 is a great price.
When I was watching this film,I thought it was good and kept you thinking throughout....however,after watching it I thought- "Would I think this film is as good without the roto-scoping",and I would say the answer is no.
My personal opinion is that I don't like the way Robert Downey Jr plays his character, amd there are so many twists of perception in this film, they become slightly mundane.
But for £2.99 for a film which definately sparks debate is unmissable
