Focusing on the rise of the Manchester music scene from the late '70s to the late 90's 24HPP emerges as one of the best music related films of all time. Steve Coogan channels the spirit of Alan Partridge into his performance as Tony Wilson, head of Factory Records, and the movie is an absolute riot from start to finish. Obviously a high point of the film the sountrack features such influential artists as The Happy Mondays, New Order, Joy Division and the Sex Pistols and instantly transports you back to the time when the British music scene felt both fresh and exciting. With a superb cast including appearances by Peter Kay, Simon Pegg, Rob Brydon, John Simm, Paddy Considine and Andy Serkis plus cameos from the likes of Clint Boon, Paul Ryder, Mani, Rowetta and Mark. E. Smith anyone who remembers, or experienced, the heyday of 'Madchester' owes it to themselves to watch this film. Then afterwards, why not pick up the soundtrack and listen to it over and over again...

     Madchester, baby!

I was there in the mid 90's and the last few years of The Hacienda. Sure, there is some artistic licence in the film, but what a film!!! It's not as far fetched as the uninitiated may believe and acts as a window to a time like none we will see again.

    R.I.P The Hacienda.

     twentyfour hour party people rocks.

Coogan plays Tony Wilson... which i found to my suprise to be a brillent performance! This film really encapsulates the era of some of the greastest music ever to come out of manchester! Filled with a very authentic 70's feel and an expose of an underground drugs/punk rock scene, and reaslistic account of Ian Cutis' death. If you have interrest in this area of Joy Divison/Sex Pistols, definately worth a watch.
