I have seen the superb 1981 stop motion original and I loved that this remake is completely different in so many ways.
The story is not laid out the same and quite a few of the characters differ from the original but this takes nothing away from this superb remake.
The CGI in this film is mind blowing the monsters take on a life of their own Medusa was superb done and the Kracken is great as well, Sam Worthington leads the film very well and is becoming a superb action blockbuster star with superb support from Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Gamma Atherton.
If you love those great big action blockbusters then you are going to love this feast for the eyes CGI popcorn flick I thought the 3-D version was well worth the couple of extra quid to see especially with the flying scenes with Pegasus at the end of the film.
I think this is the first of the summers big screen blockbusters and what a way to kick start it.

  TITANS WILL CLASH!!!

Since i saw the first trailer for this film i have really been looking forward to what proved to be an epic film. I have seen both versions...2D and 3D. Whilst 3D may be appealing to many fans out there it honestly adds nothing to the film perhaps just a little bit more money but its the 2D edition that is epic. The storyline was so so but the SFX and CGI were amazing as were the performances from Sam Worthington (AKA Mr. Blockbuster), Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelson, Liam Neeson (Zeus) and Ralph Fiennes (Hades). If you disliked the loud action movies such as Transformers etc then you will more likely not like this but if you do you will revel in what is an epic film. Enjoy

  Style Over Substance

I really wanted to say great things about this movie, but it was lacking and I came away with only the memory of how good the original 1981 version was. It just didnt have the wonder of the original film, the movie was fast and flash with the CGI for the most part but you didnt get to know the characters hence you didnt really care who lived or died. Its an enjoyable film but overall it was a real shame this didnt quite pop. However if you havent seen the original you wont realise how much of the film has been chopped up and rewritten so no doubt you will love it for what it is.

  THE GODS OF WAR

The original 1981 movie is still a much loved fantasy, and the then ground breaking stop frame animation still stands up pretty well today, but the original movie was always hampered by a weak and wooden lead, and baggy story telling. This flashy rethink stream lines the story and turns it into a much leaner and meaner version, the cast is good with a excellent leading man role in the shape of Sam Worthington ( Rogue, Terminator Salvation, Avatar) But it's the pace of the movie that is hardly unflagging, leading to some brilliant battles with beast's of all shapes and sizes. The C.G.I effects are very good, and although more graphic in violence than the original this movie is still a family adventure. The open ending to the movie means if this rethink is a success we will no doubt get a few sequels. Seeing the movie in the cinema boast's the addition of 3D, but to be honest this extra did not really add much to the movie, as it was originally shot as a 2D release, but was held back from release by the studio to add the other dimention to get more bums on seats. In a way this is a good thing as when it is released on DVD in a few months you will know that the 2D format will not loose hardly any wow factor.
An excellent fantasy adventure!
