Sucker punch revolves around the imagination of a girl who as been put in a mental instution and plans to escape. Effects are good but you need to really concentrate for the story line.

  IMAGINATION GONE WILD

This is one of those movies some are certain to hate, though to read some say it's the worst movie ever made, makes me question if they actually got where this was coming from.
It's certainly a bit bonkers, but brilliantly so. Here we have a girl sent to a mental institution,by basicly a scumbag. This place is seen as just that by the outside world, but the girls inside are trapped in a place for dirty old men to get their kicks,or a gentleman's club if you prefer.
Whilst BABYDOLL does her dancing to please,we see her mind go wild, she battles demons and soon convinces her fellow insiders to procure the needed items to escape from their hell. So we see BABYDOLL's imagination run wild as she dances and her mates go about their task. The imaginined battle scenes are brilliantly done, but will get some wondering what on earth is going on.

The story does go on to become a little more open for people's ideas of what is really going on,the end of the movie twists things a bit more to get viewers thinking.
I loved this, but fully understand some will hate it,more so because some just won't grasp what it really coming across,so if you don't,it will look like ridiculous claptrap. I got it and loved it,but my companion didn't see the need for the wierd imagined battles,it's not easy to explain to some why this was important to what they movie was doing, but for those that appreciate the way it's done, this is quite something,if you open your mind.

  A Clever Fantasy

What does Babydoll (Emily Browning) really have to do to change her life and the life of her friends? Who will escape from this life and be free? With help from each other, those who have to play their part to make it happen, the five friends will work something out.
Great pieces of music in this movie.

If you've got the right mindset, you'll love it!

Ok, do not but this film if you're looking for a coherent, logical story. Do not buy this film if you're looking for overwhelming depth and true-to-life characters.
This film is about sexy super ninjas fighting everything and anything you can practically imagine. Giant samurais? Check. Dragons? Check. Cyborg nazis? Check! It's batshit insane, erotic and pure crazy fun, and that's why I love it.

I agree this has not that much going for it apart from the superb effects and the blonde everything else was below average, would of made a better cartoon than being a film.

OK i got to give it up the cast were so hot come on now lets not beat around the facts lol, But the storyline was very hard to follow due to the constant skipping of scenes. The action was amazing but at times didn't really have a point behind it, In the end i got pretty bored half way through and was glad to get it over with in the end, Look elsewhere.

  surreal masterpiece

I loved this film. Its surreal but thought provoking. I have no idea why some people hate this film or are offended by it, I feel that maybe they are missing the point. Very intrigueing unique concept, someone escaping into their own imagination when things are too bad for their psyche to handle. Awesome must see film!

an over long music video that is so far up its own backside. pretencious rubbish. it proves a movie can be loud, action-packed and filled with beautiful young women....and still bore you to tears.avoid.

Not bad, but not the Sucker Punch the title suggests.

I found this film a bit of a mixed bag. While it definitely has it plusses on the visual side, the story within is a mess and some of the performances less than outstanding.

When committed to an insane asylum in the 1960s (shown in a well choreographed sequence played out over a cover of The Eurythmics 'Sweet Dreams') and scheduled for a lobotomy by the conspiracy of her stepfather and those inside the prison, Babydoll (played by Emily Browning) retreats into a multi-layer fantasy as she begins to attempt her escape from the fate awaiting her. Each fantasy presenting a video game like challenge to collect several items that will end up key to her escape attempt..............teaming up with some fellow inmates, she sets her plan in motion...........will she succeed?

There's no doubt that Snyder is a director who visually knows exactly what he's doing and has a style that works, because in Blu-ray especially, every shot looks amazing................but he's got to get to grips with his scriptwriting and match the two together more closely in the future, though he almost is able to tie things together here into his message delivered at the end of the film's events.

An interesting film, but not a knockout.
