  Thor...great great Film

| | See all Newmski's reviews (21)

Being of the "slightly" older generation (early 40's) I'm a bit embarrassed to confess that I actually really enjoy the Marvel films...as a kid me and a few mates were totally into Marvel comics - Daredevil, Captain America, Captain Britain, Iron Man and the Avengers being the pick of the crop. So it is with a fair bit of interest that I've seen (and, ahem, bought) pretty much all of the Marvel films so far. Thor was never a favorite of mine back in the day, but I took the girlfriend and her son along to see this, just really to tick the box of Marvel films that I'd seen. But what a surprise...I thought this film was fantastic. Excellent special effects, good acting, good choice of actors, good humour etc. I must also admit to giving a silent cheer when Thor catches the hammer after his scrap with the Destroyer! Sad, but true. I'll definitely be pre-ordering when it becomes available. Bring on the Avengers...'nuff said.

  Great start to Thor

disney certainly show the influence as a big marvel fan both comics and movies , the movie does show Thor fairly accurate but i cant help feel that since disney got in ( even tho marvel studios still make all the movie) i feel that Thor was mainly at kids. Likes of iron man , hulk , x-men and spiderman they were aimed at kids but had that comic adult feel . that aside the movie was a great story and now that the avengers is in the making thor has something at the end which leads onto the cap America movie , just like iron man 2 had thors hammer at the end . so all movies are tie-in in with the avengers. Chris as Thor was overacted in parts but overall he was a decent actor for the role not the best choice but thats my opinion. all the actors held there own. just hope that disney dont stop marvel from making marvel movies such as blade or punisher.

This film is amazing film, and not knowing much about this Marvel character it was brilliant to watch. The actors do a great job in the film, and there is a massive surprise in the film which I did not see coming. Looking forward for hopefully more films in the future with the same cast! Watch this film if you have not seen it or not heard much about the character and storyline of Thor. You be pleased you did!!!! EXCELLENT FILM!!!

Chris H, the lead who plays Thor is just outstanding. The write looks, shape, voice and above all he has the perfect Charisma for this character. Natalie P also does a very good job and looks gorgeous. The guy who plays Thor's brother was incredible, very impressed. Also, i thought the little cameo by Jeremy Renner was pretty cool. A lot of action, fantasy and humour in it to keep you hooked. Overall, a well acted, action packed blockbuster with a lot of heart and soul into it.

  More about acting than action

| | See all BrendanHughes's reviews (251)

The main characther comes accross as a Russell Crowe/Brad Pitt spin off and is to be honest quite good.Anthony Hopkins is'nt bad as the father but the film is more about story and acting than bare full blooded action although the effects are good it never really got me in a serious mood although its one parents would enjoy with their kids

  A surprise!

Surprisingly good effort at a neglected superhero. Never heard of Hemsworth, but he can actually act, and is well cast as Thor. The sfx are good, story is decent, Portman & Hopkins don't ham it up to much. Make the time for it!

  GOOD FILM... POINTLESS IN 3D

I really enjoyed the film of a Marvel Classic, I ended up watching this not because I wanted to, because there was nothing else on, I wasn't expecting much, but it came as quite a surprise as not being a huge Marvel fan, or reader of Marvel comics. The downside was the 3D, when I watched it in 3D, you expect a bit more than a rock to come out of the screen. This is a good film, good actors worth a watch, good film.

  THOR in 3D

| | See all Impailers's reviews (1)

What a fantastic film. I have seen all the new age Marvel films now, and I have to say that this one does not fall short of the mark. Branagh has done a great job in presenting the character to the audience and then bringing the character to the fullest whilst he is outcast on Earth. The effects are just great and to watch it in 3D was awesome.
Hemsworth was really fitting as THOR - self indulged mighty God of Thunder and he must have worked out for ages to get that fit. Well worth buying and I've already got my copy pre ordered.
Cant wait for the Avengers Film with Shell Head, Thor, Cap, Hulk, Hawkeye etc.
Bring it on Disney.
