People have moaned and complained about this movie for its cheesey acting, dialogue and script but thats the way its supposed to be. Its a special effects extravaganza and it doesnt disappoint. A chain reaction in the core has caused the planet to overheat and fall apart leading us to some of the best SFX i have seen for a while and that includes "Transformers" and "Terminator Salvation". John Cusack was well cast as the main guy leading his family to survival. This is a pure popcorn movie like the great 90s action epics and should be watched with the sense of excitement because its never gonna win an oscar but its sure gonna entertain. Enjoy

Ignore all the bad acting and no plot comments - to be honest I didn't think any of the acting was that bad and the character's are meant to be cheesy and quickly sterotyped as the effects come so think and fast you don't have much time to think about anything else.

If you love disaster movies you will love this - it's like somebody has made a massive trailer of all the best bits of every disaster movie made - there's earthquakes, volcanos, cruise ships tipping over, plane crashes, tidal waves and even a subway train make an unexpected and brief apperance before it plummets into oblivion.

This film is all about effects and it delivers. It's also refreshing that it's not New York and L.A. that you see falling to bits but everwhere from San Diego to Rome to Hawaii to India that is smashed to CGI death - although the obligtory White House distruction takes place, but that's standard practice and it's squashed in style.

It does have the down fall of killing off the more quirky characters and as chessy as it may be I was puzzeled as to why nobody seemed that upset that billions of people and probably everybody they ever knew had died - but I guess Hollywood demands it's happy ending.

I'm not sure if this has now put the nail in the disaster movie's coffin as after this there is nothing left to be destroyed or no other disaster to be covered - but if it is it's gone out with an amazing end of the world bang.

I thought this film was fantastic and really in all honesty I didn't think the acting was cheesy at all. ALong with the day after tomorrow I think this is one of the best disaster movies to hit our screens and it was well worth the admission charge plus buying it on dvd.
"The acting was cheesy" oh come on. Why can't you just enjoy the film and how interesting the idea and concept is without dissing the movie with such weak & watered down comments. To the hollywood superstars that said that, lets get you infront of the camera & see if you could do a better job. No!!, oh well!
I defo recommend buying it and the acting was great!

Very cheesy acting, cheesy dialogue, predictable story until the end but thats not why you watch this movie, you watch it for the visual effects! The end of the world will never be more epic than this. If youre not a massive fan of Roland Emmerich films then just rent it as it does have the best display of disaster than any of his previous movies, but if you want more than that then you wont find it because as usual its as shallow underneath as all the rest of his films! Effects 5 stars, without them 1star.

 Amazing !
