The tragic loss of their unborn child has devastated Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard), taking a toll on both their marriage and Kate's fragile psyche as she is plagued by nightmares and haunted by demons from her past. Struggling to regain some semblance of normalcy in their lives, the couple decides to adopt another child. At the local orphanage, both John and Kate find themselves strangely drawn to a young girl named Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman).

Almost as soon as they welcome Esther into their home, however, an alarming series of events begins to unfold, leading Kate to believe that there's something wrong with Esther - this seemingly angelic little girl is not what she appears to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther's sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late... for everyone.

 This girl is a psycho!

Maybe a bit strong to compare this to The Omen but the chararcter of Esther who is played by Isabelle Fuhrman is very haunting. Her sweet and innocent demeaner soon changes and she gives an excellent performance throughout. Towards the end she reminded me of Stacey Slater when she was carted off to be sectioned in Eastenders! The movie itself was gripping and if a tad unrealistic in spots, it certainly keeps you on the edge of your seat. Vera Farmiga is always worth a watch in any film! Good Entertainment - 4 stars

 Classic Suspense

I'm happy to say this film is excellent. You can never be too sure these days but the movies is full of suspense and has a classic feel to it. Isabelle Fuhrman is scary as hell as in the title role. It's astounding how these kids can pull these sort of roles off. I also have to say Aryana Engineer as Max is one of the cutest things you ever will see in a movie.

 NO WONDER NOBODY WANTED HER!

This is a great child from hell movie, we may have seen the concept before ( Omen, Bless this Child......Home Alone) but what makes this stand out is the superb acting. Also the script is very good with an emotional back story that really does ground the characters in reality, even if the final reverlation drifts into the Absurd, but this does not matter, as all the signs from the Orphans background makes sense. It starts off slow, but once the dots start to join, the movie starts to grip. if you want to see a great unpredictable little thriller, Orphan does not disappoint.
Well worth watching!

 Not a slash horror

If you want blood & guts see one of the usual cheesy films produced several times a year.. but if you like an an intelligent well made psychological horror, this is a MUST.
