Iver been lucky eneough to see this..i bought it from usa as i have a multi region dvd player..it was supposed to be released on cinema in the uk in october..but it kept being put back..and now looks like straight to dvd release over hear. Its by the same people behind WOLF CREEK!!...dont expect all action from the of..it builds to one of the most dramatic endings in crocodile history :)...it is based loosly on true events..this croc is huge...this film has been billed as the new jaws..its that good..have some good scenery at the start..and even tho not much action in first hour..the suspence is there and the last 30 min..is fantastic..reccomend this highly..dark water was a good film to..this is more bloody.
If u trhinking of going to aussi land..u may think twice of going down stream after watching this..u dont want to get in an argument with a croc the crocs r pretty snappy down under :)
What is it about Crocodile movie? you wait years for one then 4 turn up at once! This is the only reason why this movie never got the intended cinema release that it truly deserved, and ended up sitting on the shelf for two years!
First we were insulted by the pathetic direct to DVD Lake Placid 2, Then came the muddled Primevil Kill, then the very good Black Water, but Rogue is the one we wated for. Directed by Greg (Wolf Creek)McLean this great Croc Shocker is very loosley based on a true story. The tension in the film is built to brilliant effect, as a pleasure trip to feeds the Crocs, goes very wrong, and the sight seer's soon end up on the menu and marooned on a tiny island that is only visible during the low tide. As night falls the survivors try to out smart the Croc, before the water level rises, and they end up as supper. The movie is well shot, and keeps the Croc hidden for most of the film, but when revealed the movie keeps it clever and never over exaggerate the Croc, and it very well rendered in CGI. This all comes to a creepy and very unsettleing final showdown in the Croc's lair. Of cours the film is not without it's faults, as the secondary characters are slightly under written and a sterio typical mixed bunch that some might as well have the word "Victim" branded to their foreheads. Also when marooned on the outcrop that pace gets slightly baggy for about ten minutes, but as soon as the survivors start to cross the water the tension ramps back up to breaking point. These slight niggles can be forgiven when you take into consideration the at times breath taking land scapes, and the brilliant stringed music score.
Don't go thinking your going to see the next jaws (by that I mean the original Jaws, and not the sequels) movie,as written on the front sleeve, but do go expecting to see a damn good thriller, and possibly the best Killer Croc movie ever made.
A really great creature feature with a powerful bite!
If you like a good monster movie then you should love this film. It does start off a little slow to build up the story and get used to the characters but once the action kicks in its scary stuff all the way to big climax! Theres plenty of jumpy moments and parts that make you shout "dont go in there" The croc in this film is really big and looks very cool. Worth watching as its one of the best croc films around, not as good as primeval kill but better than lake placid.
A wonderfully shot film, and the tension builds right up to the end.The Croc effects are fantastic with very realistic movement. The actors did a good job too, brilliant and highly reccomended .
This movie starts out by feeding the audience a fifteen minute spectacular of the views across the australian outback after this it plunges straight into the actual movie. Rhada Mitchell leads the cast as does Micheal vartan both are equally great in their roles, they were faced with a difficult movie, but they act out against the tension and interact with the CGI crocodile very well.
Its only a shame that we dont see much of the crocodile till the last half an hour or so of the movie as it is done very well i would say almost flawlessly. The death scenes are handled well despite the fact there isnt a tremendous amount of gore and guts.
Its the last half hour of this movie which makes it the ultimate croc movie, the tense scene inside the crocodiles den is unbelievably frightening, the way its so confined and the crocodile is so big makes it almost hard to believe that- well i wont reveal anything!
All thats left to say is this movie is excellent i feel disturbed which is good, because i most certainly wont be going to australia and taking a swim. The acting and special effects are awesome as is the excellent scenery, my only concern is the movie falters with a bit of a poor script at one point, other than that its damned near perfect.
