Cowboy Bebop Remix: Complete Collection (6 Discs)

My favorite peice of media ever.
What starts out a a solid Sci-Fi, buddy road movie (in space) with lots of laughs quickly evolves into a perfectly paced and subtly complex relationship drama... which also happens to feature explosions and lots of Kung Fu!

What makes this series is not the often quoted music, art style etc but instead the three main characters who are just perfect and draw you into their relationship. The little nuances of their interactions are so well voice acted (by the Japanese cast anyway) and so well scripted that within a few episodes you care deeply about the final destinations of the characters.

And the ending... BEST ENDING EVER!

In additiion; the action is thrilling, the music score is so cool its untrue and the main characters just ooze cool.

I cannot recommend enough.

Don't be put off by the Cowboy Bebop film - as the TV series has a much faster pace with great storytelling and action sequences. If you enjoyed "Firefly" or the film "Serenity" - then you will love this anime.

Along with Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach - this is a good anime intro for western/european audiences.

cowboy bebop is a gr8 anime due to its story
its not slow becuase every episode is more or less seperate but there is an over all story so once you've seen an episode ur kinda hooked.

one thing i admire about this anime is its not pervy (with the excpetion of the female bounty hunters outfits) but she doesnt act pervy xD

Great series - one for lovers of jazz and sci-fi alike, this really captures the feel of jazz in the form of an anime series. Each episode (about 25 minutes each) is like a vignette with a blues/jazz/sci-fi theme, with the first few episodes building up the cast, and the series really hits its stride around episode 8. The first episodes have aged a little, but the rest holds up remarkably well, and it quickly develops into a rollicking set with surprising subtlety as themes carry over from episode to episode.

There's so much about this series which is perfect - the right characters which fit into a perfect ensemble, the right music, good voice acting, the right mix of action and relationship, the 'special' episodes dropped into the flow which focus more on suspense or a particular theme like romance, the right level of maturity in the writing, the main-story two-parters, the right level of violence (not too much) - that it's churlish to pick on the places where the pacing is not as tight as it could be.

It sits with pride in my (very small) anime collection alongside Ghost in the Shell, Akira, everything by Hayao Miyazaki, and of course the Bebop movie (also highly recommended).

This is without a doubt one of the best reasons that anime exists. It is also one of the very few English dubbed series that is actually better than the Japanese track. The music alone from Yoko Kanno and her Seatbelts band is reason enough with it greatly matched and eclectic mix of genres. Well worth the investment of the OST CD. Has one of the best endings you are likely to ever see in either animation, or live action.
