As I sat down and readied myself for an hour of laughter, as I'm used to with Mitchell and Webb DVD's on the whole, I expected a live show much like those of Fast Show or the Mighty Boosh.

I got it wrong. So very wrong, and genuinely can't believe what I watched. Two thirds of the sketches are in fact, as a previous reviewer said, WORD for WORD lifts from That Mitchell and Webb Look but in a poor, hurried live form. The audience indeed do sound quiet, probably distraught at the idea of paying for inflated ticket prices for seeing what they've already seen on the TV. The other third I assume are the remainders of poor ideas that never made the TV series, and with apparently good reason.

What an awful DVD, and what an awful effort from a usually exemplary Mitchell and Webb. Don't buy this, you WILL regret it, whoever had this idea needs to take a good, hard look at themselves as they contemplate their involvement in the swindle that is this DVD. Shocking.

this is the origins of 'The Michell and Webb look' which is now out on DVD. This has a lot of the exact same material as on the tv series. There are a few sketches which didnt make the tv series and a few which have a very slight lines changed/added. The casting is different as on the live show there is no Olivia Colman or Paterson Joseph.

Overall: its worth a watch if you really like mitchell and webb and want to see their earlier stuff but if you are just after a live dvd and have seen the show then its not for you

Customer rating: 2 out of 5 stars If you saw the BBC series, don't bother

Its virtually lifted, word for word, from their TV series. the audience is pretty subdued to, and it just feels like a rehash of the series. Thats out on DVD soon, so get that instead, its funnier and there will be 3 hours of it, so better value too.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Brilliant.

Having seen the show for myself during the tour I can quite safely say it is very, very funny. So many great moments and characters from Sir Digby, Numberwang, Hole In The Ring and the epic finale of the snooker commentators...but that is also what stops me giving this five stars.
Just about every sketch is lifted directly from the TV series, which whilst still funny makes it slightly predictable. Also they missed a trick with the Big Talk audience feature...would have been so much better if for some reason they had used the one from Cambridge and the classic question "is it wrong to find Hitler attractive?"

The answer?
Its fruitless.
