This film is so bad it is actually quite good!
But the producers know the Friday the 13th series limitations and have some fun with it. The film is not supposed to take it's self seriously and also knows how moronic some of the other enties in the series were. This is Jason for the self mocking Scream Generation.
The story takes Jason to the future and then blast's him into the stars. With some outlandish death sequence and a very funny vertual Camp Crystal Lake sequence this tenth entry is a hell of alot of fun, even the bargain basement effects seem to add to the fun of it all.
This is a long way from the series original origins, but as a comic book slice and dice, this is one of the better entries to this long running slaughter series!
absolute joke !!!!!

i have all the friday the 13th series and enjoyed all of them as they were very gory and told a great story through out. i especially enjoyed number 6. however jason was suppose to stay at crystal lake not go in to outer-space i the year 2400 or something. tht is just a complete joke. anyway he is suppose to be dead. so it should not even really be in the series at all.
TERRIBLE!!!!

I was very wary about watching a film about the legendary Jason Voorhees in space and i was right!!! this was one of the worst films i've ever seen people say its funny and entertaining but its not its terrible the deaths are not even good and jasons 'look' is just bad! the actings always 'off' in F13th Films but this takes the mickey it really is bad i'm a huge fan of F13th Movies but i pretend this dosn't even exist! even if you love the whole series DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jason goes to space - with great success. The production is clear and budget highly bigger. This normally doesn't make a horror movie grim or dark, and that's not the case with 'Jason X' either. Instead of bringing screams among the audience, it makes smiles and cheers instead. 'Jason X' is fun and full of entertainment

I've just read the previous review and cannot agree. Okay its not as much of a horror movie compared to the previous movies in the series. However, it is a highly entertaining scifi/horror/comedy. It made me laugh at quite a few points and I do not laugh easily. If you are Andromeda fan you will love it for the fact that Lexa Doig and Lisa Ryder are in it (although in this case Lisa in the android). If you a hard nosed horror movie viewer it may not be your cup of tea. I loved it and recommend it to fellow, sad, cheesy sci fi movie fanatics.
Too Modern. Completely Ruins The Series.

Jason X is mind-numbing. It is awful. Perhaps the worst in the series. There is hardly anything redeeming about it. Jason X sees Jason tricked into being cryogenicly frozen by a woman called Rowan who is also frozen along with him. They are then unfrozen in the year 2455 aboard a spaceship full of naive teenagers on a trip. These teens, along with an older teacher, explain that Earth has been destroyed and tell Rowan that they are currently dissecting Jason etc. Rowan knows of Jason's murderous ways and tells them that they don't know what they're doing etc. but in the usual clichéd way they think they know what they're doing, until it's too late, and Jason is dismembering limbs here, there and everywhere. Jason X really hits rock bottom. It's storyline is completely unappealing and seems strewn together very loosely. There is no mention of any of the usual roots of the Friday the 13th movie; there is no Camp Crystal Lake and no camp counsellors, so why does Jason feel the need to kill everyone off aboard the ship, if they have done nothing in the first place. Well, the reason seems to be that Jason gets agitated by sexual activities, and skimpy-clothed big breasted woman, so he stalks around the ship killing off everyone in rage. Boring. The gore is completely unsatisfactory, save for an interesting scene where Adrienne has her face cryogenicly frozen in a sink, and smashed to pieces on the table, leaving her with no face. The script is completely wrong, and the acting is just plain unconvincing. The one one redeeming feature is the rather stylish sets, which look super cool and sexy. If they want to do Friday the 13th, I suggest they keep them on ground and in the woods, because Jason X is one terrible mistake.
