Every family has its own language.
This heart-warming 'coming of age' comedy-drama from director Richard E. Grant is seen through the eyes of young Ralph Compton, and mirrors his own experiences as a boy living in Swaziland.
Swaziland 169: the British ex-pat community is thrown into turmoil by the impending arrival of Independence, signalling the end of their pampered decadent lifestyles. Ralph Compton is stuck in the middle of a messy divorce. His father's re-marriage to a brash ex-airhostess and Ralph's lead role in a production of Camelot and his discovering love take centre stage.

This film was interesting to watch and the performances are very strong. The plot itself is unlike the main hollywood films- set in Swaziland South East Africa in the 60's and 70's, young Ralph witnesses the breakdown of his parents marriage and thus sets the stage for the effect it has on him later in life. Gabriel Byrne is amazing- the other actors are all very good. If you are up for a bit of something different, check this out.
