Their war, our world...

Dueling alien races, the Autobots and the Decepticons, bring their battle to Earth, leaving the future of humankind hanging in the balance.

Introduced in 1984, the Transformers brand took the world by storm with its compelling saga of the Autobots versus the Decepticons. Over 20 years on and director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg bring us a thrilling battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons. When their epic struggle comes to Earth, all that stands between the evil Decepticons and ultimate power is a clue held by Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Join the fight for mankind in the extraordinary adventure that "features some of the most spectacular action and effects sequences of any movie of its kind will appeal to the kid in all of us." (Claudia Puig, US Today).

Michael Bay has been lambasted in the past but this Spielberg production is an awesome display of what a modern blockbuster can accomplish when real talent reigns in a mercurial one.
The effects are astonishing. They have the same level of realism as War of the Worlds-they never dominate the surroundings but compliment them beautifully. The Transformers themselves are as wonderous as the dinasours in Jurrasic Park, jaw-dropping, stunning, and full of character.
In terms of action Transformers has it in spades. From the opening attack until the climatic street battle; it rivals T2 in "pinch yourself" moments-you can't quite believe the destruction unfolding up on the screen. But unfold it does at a frantic pace which drags the audience kicking, sreaming, and laughing without noticing the running length.
And at the centre of it all is young Sam who steals the movie from his CGI counterparts. Smart, funny, geeky; Sam is like a young John Cusack in The Sure Thing or One Crazy Summer- a loveable loser who just wants to get the girl.
His parents are a delight. The sequence where Sam tries to stop them discovering his clumsy robot pals is hilarious. A farce on a gigantic scale that Laurel and Hardy would be proud of-a pure Speilberg moment.
Transformers does what any blockbuster should do-entertain. It is light years ahead of Pirates 3 and even it's political subtext is clear and concise-not a messy pop at the evils of Empire building but one of cooperation.
Simply brilliant.

Despite being crammed full of CGI, this feels more like an 80s blockbuster. It takes its time getting to the action, and when it does there are plenty of light comic moments to punctuate the grinding metal. Unfortunately there are also plenty of not-so-brilliant sections of dialogue, but if you liked the cartoon then you won't be disappointed. Also, despite coming in at a bladder bursting 144 minutes, there are enough ideas in there to stop the movie dragging - in many ways this a poor man's 'Terminator 2' for the new millennium.

 Amazing!

This has got to be the best film I've seen in years, I've seen it at the cinema twice & it is SO good! I reckon it wont be as good on DVD as it is a must see at the cinema, the effects are brilliant, none of it looks computerised, its so funny too, I cant wait to get it on DVD, big thumbs up from me!

Having grown up with the Transformers and being a massive fan I have looked forward to the movie everytime there has been murmurs about it, when the murmurs finally came to fruition i was excited but also apprehensive, there have been a lot of cartoon to film faux-pas' and i was just hoping this one didnt fall by the wayside, luckily in the fantastic direction of Michael Bay and the awesome child-like imagination of Speilberg comes the best film of 2007 by a country mile! the perfect blend of the old and new and top notch casting in both Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox. This film is an absolute must buy for anyone! Don't let this one pass you by
