i loved it !! this was great!! it was good to see rupert grint in something other than harry potter, cause i think he's great!! he is the coolest ginger ever!! lol it was something really different... but it some ways it feels like calendar girls.. sorry i had to say that ;) im not a huge fan of low budget english comedies but this is really witty and funny and doesnt feel like a low budget movie at all. it really has a british feel to it and it made me laugh!! but in the future i'll probably stick to the big blockbusters thanks ;) XD
This films just brilliant.
Julie Walters plays her rude, outspoken and endearing character so brilliantly. Rupert Grint is fantastic as the shy, submissive boy that comes to work for her and she drags him into the real world and away from his overbearing (and so holy it hurts) mother. I know its a funny thing to mention but the swearing is just so perfect in this film, everytime someone swears it is always so well timed and just so brilliantly funny that it makes the film all the more brilliant. Now this is a low budget film very British film. If your not British you may not understand many of the jokes in this film because they play on situations and feeling towards said situations (the infamous bus sequence comes to mind)
Overall a brilliant film that will stick a smile on your face for hours on end.
I thought that this film was pretty good. It was a little slow in places but enjoyable none the less. I would recommend watching it.
Don't believe what you read from unhelpful reviewers, this is a truly charming and quintessentially English film. Funny, endearing, quaint and beautifully observed this is Julie Walters at her best with a great supporting cast (Laura Linney is excellent). Just enjoy the moment and go with the flow, a truly worthwhile contribution to (lower budget) UK film-making.
Sorry to be in complete contrast with the other review, but I quite enjoyed this film, I found the characters sweet and endearing, great to see Rupert Grint's superd acting in something outside Harry Potter! Just because it wasn't hang-onto-your-seat-for-dear-life gripping didn't make it dull, in fact I found it quite the reverse.
There, now if you were umming and arring about whether or not to buy it, I've completely confused you. HA!
