 An excellent reworking

This is an excellent reworking of a classic film, far more gory than the original but just as well made and shocking. The inclusion of genuine atomic test footage and the resulting mutations on real people gives a very dark and disturbing opening to the film. This quickly progresses into a very bloody battle between the travelling family and the grotesque mutants.
The story follows exactly the same lines as the original and is remade pretty much scene by scene. Although some "exact" remakes usually offer very little to an audience in this sense, Hills does suceed in delivering the goods a second time around.
I found this to be a very well made film with a believable family unit, some good acting and some great scares, excellent effects and a real sense of horror. What more could you ask for?

One of the all time best re-makes

Magnificent from start to finish...totally brutal and un-flinching.
The original was extreme for its time but this effort takes it to a new level.
The film also gives the viewer an insight to the background of the inbred family and how and why they became such primative and violent hunters of unsuspecting travellers.....But be warned that this film is extremely violent and can make for some unpleasant viewing at times but full credit to the makers for doing so as this is a proper horror in the every sense of the word.

 Quality throughout

Absolutely brilliant remake, quality acting, decent storyline, amazing camerawork and an excellent ending.
Love the mobile phone salesman... especially at the end when the normally subdued Character finally snaps.

 Well made remake

This is not a patch on Aja's Switchblade Romance but is a competent re-make of the original. Was expecting something more frightening, suspenseful and gory but enjoyed the film nevertheless. Definitley worth a watch, just don't expect to be too shocked.

 Love this film

I've seen the orginal and this one and this one is defo better. With better mutants, who seem a lot more evil and planned out that the orginal ones and better death scenes this movie is a must see.

While the plot and the death order are basically the same in both movies, this one is far more chilling (even though it has that bird from 'Lost' in it).

Very very good, leaves me feeling a bit sick every time I watch it, which isn't a bad thing.

 OMG!!!!

An excellent remake of the 1977 orginal. Full of blood and gore!!! A great horror film. Plenty of scary moments. Not really for the faint hearted and weak stomached!!!

 FANTASTIC REMAKE

As far as remakes go, not many are successful, but this is one of the really rare ones that actually surpasses the original (in my opinion). I was a huge fan of director Alexandre Aja's first film switchblade romance, and was excited that he was going to be leading this remake. The Gore and violence is very well done, and some parts of the movie are difficult to sit and watch. This movie takes the basic ideas of the original and goes into much more detail with the story. Overall an amazing horror film from Alex Aja and I can say I'm really looking foreward to his future projects.

All time favourite horror flick, brilliant!
