As a fan of the Donnie Darko masterpiece released a few years ago I was satisfied with the directors cut release as it added more scenes(yes, they are irrelevant) but ultimately found myself waiting for the key moments in the film only to find it had been delayed and delayed etc etc by yet more added scenes. I recommend the original for first time viewers and fans. Not an overall bad film in essence though.

Don't get me wrong I love Donnie Darko and it's also a personal favourite of mine, but when a friend had me watching the director's cut, I just couldn't seem to get my head around it.
In my opinion if your a big fan of the original cut version I really don't think you will enjoy this. Many of the scenes jump backwards and forwards though out the film and the change of soundtrack here and there also put me off. I think the idea of the Director's Cut was to give you more of the Donnie Darko experience, but where I was too put off by many changes its just made me want to stick with the original version.
And if your buying this DVD to see Donnie Darko for the first time, I seriously advise you to watch the original before seeing this, as it may confuse the hell out of you
