In an era of rubbish television like Big Brother and numerous other reality tv shows, it is really refreshing to know that intelligent and genuinely funny programmes still get made.

QI is a perfect example of this, a gameshow with a difference. The questions are usually very obscure and frequently very interesting. Points are not necessarily awarded for right answers but for interesting ones. To help things along the host is the wonderful Stephen Fry, a man whose natural wit and banter with his celebrity panel is often rib ticklingly funny. Alan Davies is the one regular panel guest who obviously gave up trying to win years ago and now decides its more fun to try and lose, badly.

This is actually quite a good dvd, with the unaired pilot and the entire first series of QI. Alongside Top Gear and Mock the Week this is some of the best television around and i hope it keeps going for a long time yet.
