Hiya!

Well this is it, the DVD o' series 1. If you've no seen it, it's basically all aboot me (Gary Tank Commander) and ma boys Jacko, Charlie & Adam and what we get up tae when we're no oot and aboot Iraq-side. Liiiiiiike.....accidentally recruitin' Jacko's wee sister (Julie) for the forces (oops) and meetin' General Randy Badger, a mental American that caused pure madness and mayhem when he came tae check oot his roots (no as in his hair). Pickin' up a cooker for ma da wis a laugh as well, and when the fire brigade threw a benny, we hud tae step in and save the day.

Anyhoo, check oot ma thoughts on the world as I pure see it, check oot the madness wi' ma boys and watch oot for the radges that are Sergeant Thomson, Captain Fanshaw, and ma Dad (sorry Dad you're no a radge, only sometimes) and many others!!!

Cheers
Gary

Gary McLintoch (Greg McHugh) is a Tank Commander in the British Army who loves getting a sun tan, drinking Baileys and philosophising about everything from pizza to the peace process. Having just returned to Edinburgh from Iraq, Gary and his tank crew of Jacko (Robbie Jack), Charlie (Scott Fletcher) and Adam (Paul-James Corrigan), are soon reminded that Mid Lothian can be almost as eventful as the Mid East.

Series 1 sees Gary accidentally recruiting his friend Julie (Leah MacRae), using a tank to collect a cooker in the middle of a training exercise and trying to prevent an American General from causing an international incident. All this is made more difficult as Gary and the boys have to stay one step ahead of the Captain (Miles Jupp) and the fiery Sergeant Thomson (Stuart Bowman), who delights in punishing them in cruel and unusual ways.

Containing flashback footage of the boys in Iraq, as well as monologues where Gary offers his upbeat and often surreal thoughts on the wider world, Gary: Tank Commander is a fresh & funny sitcom about a new kind of comedy hero.

I am waiting patiently for this dvd set to be released...!!! I watched it as everyone I knew raved about how funny it was. A camp army man i.e. Gary is hilarious as he encounters exciting things everyday like his birthday "Happy birthday to me -Garaay". Ace ! Just hope BBC hurries up and releases this !?! Loved gary and his Glasgow accent lol.

 Hilarious.

Contemporary mix of Blackadder and the Office. It highlights the innate humour found in daily life and the mundane.
Gary's ability to get things right but grasp it slightly wrong is sublime: "this is clearly a wild duck chase".
His pieces to camera on his theories on life and the army are possibly the funniest parts, aside from the 'videos' of the boys doing dance routines.
Little swearing and few repeated catchphrases, although its now difficult not to answer the phone with a variety of different place names. This is our new hobby - coming up with our own ways of answering the phone a la Gary - hello, burger king. no its me.

This has actually had me in stitches

The best Scottish comedy since Still Game.

I absolutely adore Gaaaary Tank Commander. It's fresh, funny and he has the smiliest face on the planet.

Every episode is hilarious and filled with cheeky wee radges!

Can't wait for the 2nd series to start in January :)

 Glad I bought it!

I never managed to catch this series when it was on the telly. And unfortunately the BBC seemed to not promote it very well!
I missed out on a gem of Scottish comedy! It is nice and fresh new comedy and pulls away from the Scottish comedy pub culture. Although there are a few visits to pubs it is not a huge part!
Greg McHugh's accent as Gary is fantastic and really gets into the character!
Most enjoyable belly laughs which I will watch time and time again!
I cannot wait till Series 2!
