TRANSFORMERS 2007
It has taken over 20 years to bring this to the big screen.
Some critics hate it and turn there noses up at it saying this is just dumb and stupid, but a film about robots from another planet at war with each other, that also can change into Cars, Planes, Helicopter,Trucks, Tanks. Is a bit hard to swallow, but that's not the point. The film is one big rollercoaster ride, with special effects that will leave your jaw on the floor. The awesome effects remind me of when I first saw Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park on the big screen for the first time, they are that impressive.
But as we all know effects do not make a movie. The plot is simple, so simple in fact you could write it on the back of a postage stamp. Two clans of Transformers at war looking for the ALLSPARK (their sauce of life that fell to earth thousands of years ago) but the plot does not need anything else, it just tags the fantastic action together. With Michael Bay directing you know he will deliver the goods. I have never seen so much eye scorching effects in such a small space of time. He even out does the Freeway carnage he created in Bad Boys 2.
In a world that is tearing it's self apart, you could do a lot worse than spend two and a half hours of sheer escapism. As that's what this film is about. See this movie on a BIG TV screen and you'll experience excellent eye scorching Entertainment!

TRANSFORMERS REVENGE OF THE FALLEN 2009
I'm not going to beat around the bush,Transformers 2 is going to be loved as much as it's loathed, but for those who loath the movies, lets just get one thing straight. These movies don't think they are high art, or will win any Oscars for best film, or direction (apart from special effects) Master director of destruction Michael Bay knows who and what these films are aimed at. The original 2007 movie was nothing more than a childhood fantasy put on the big screen, but what Bay managed to do was give the ones that were willing some of the most amazing action and special effects ever put to screen. This quick of the mark sequel popcorn tent pole summer blockbuster, is nothing more. Of course the film is Big, Brash, Dumb and bloated. But with a great cast (although for most one dimensional) even better effects, and grand scale destruction like nothing ever seen on the big screen, this film is a brain in neutral rollercoaster. If I wanted to be picky, I could complain that the plot is a mess, the characters are under written, its thirty minutes too long, and it's based on a toy. That's what the critics of the last film complained about. That's missing the entire reason why these films were put to the big screen. Transformers 2 knows how silly it's subject matter is, and all it sets out to do is entertain, and the film does, but there is a big price to pay for a quick off the mark sequel, as mentioned before the plot is a total mess, it shoots in every direction, not knowing where to go and only proves that bigger is not always better and although the film dazzles with the action and effects the plot leaves the film off balance. It should please most avid fans, but in retrospect and with part three on the horizon it would have been better if Director Michael bay had waited until there was a plot before filming had began.
It's a slight disappointment but with our economy in tatter's stories of corrupt MP, Terrorist threats, and the ongoing war in Afghanistan, Libya at least in Transformers 2 you can disengage your brain for two and a half hours from the depression of the real world, and lap up every guilty pleasure of this popcorn entertainment.
