A chilling reinvention of the unforgettable 1970s series - written by Primeval writer, Adrian Hodges and based on Terry Nation's original novel.

Left bewildered and numb, untouched by a virus that had swept across the world destroying all but a random selection of desperate souls, these are the 'lucky ones' left alive when so many died. This lonely few now have to step into a strange new world where everything that was once safe and familiar is now strange and dangerous.

Among those struggling for survival are Abby, a devoted mother with a missing son; Greg, a loner, hiding the pain of his past; Anya, a doctor who has seen too much; Al, a playboy who becomes surrogate father to Najid; and Tom Price, handsome, dangerous and a high security prisoner before the virus hit.

In the ghost cities and empty fields, power, water and food supplies are scarce. Just to stay alive they will have to band together, utilise their talents and learn new skills. But can they all be trusted? And what new trials await those trying to rebuild a dead civilisation?

The first series of Survivors was entertaining even with its silly plot mistakes and its many goofs, building to a brilliant cliff-hanger that is let down by this below par second series run. Firstly the first series cliff-hanger could of taken the plot in any direction, instead it is too quickly resolved. Secondly there are far too many errors in this series to make it a brilliant watch (the stand out one for me was Abby finding her friends far too easily and hugging them despite being infected) as well as the constant errors we have to put up with Julie Graham again who is wooden and appears to be the same in everything she is in.

The other characters also become a tad boring/annoying, with Anya (Zoe Tapper) becoming too much like Kate from Lost (i.e. unlikable), Tom (Max Beesley) becomes a cardboard cut out only being used when theres a fight and spends the most of the series cemented to a gun while Greg (Paterson Joseph) does the best he can with the dialogue he has been given. Thats not to say there isnt some good aspects to the series, the cliff-hanger this time around is mysterious and intriguing (although I have a feeling we wont see it resolved), Gregs past opens up some doors that are engrossing but are only looked at in passing, we also get some insight into his life via Lost style flashbacks. The two strong points of the series however are episodes four (the one with the mine) and five (the one on the farm) which are well written despite the plot holes and the blossoming relationship between Al (Phillip Rhys) and Sarah (Robyn Addison), the latter of whom really shines throughout the series.

Sadly though there are too many mistakes to make this a brilliant watch/series, it is however entertaining and slightly darker than the first series, if only they can now iron out the plots more carefully, team are group up with some other survivors (why they havent done this already is beyond me) and give us a bigger insight into the likeable characters lives then they will be on the right track, as I have said though, even with a cliff-hanger this series, I dont see it returning...

 I loved this series

The series picks up exactly where the first leaves off. I think it's a great series a must watch if you have seen the first, can't wait for the next series!

Ive watched this series on the BBC and I must admit it was very good. The overall plot of the story is very good, and although sometimes some of the sideplots can be a little bit stupid the overall plot is very very good and very stimulating to watch. The standard of the acting is also very good and really makes the show very good. I was very impressed with this programme and would advice it to everyone to watch.

 Good Show

This second series of survivors was excellent, true it has its flaws some wooden acting and only minimal character development. Though was left is pure TV gold, just sit back turn off your brain and enjoy it for what it is... a bit of fun.
