Breathless is an interesting story, although it's not the most complex its very intriging and grips you from the very beginning.
The leading male is a man who suffers from rage, he lashes out at everyone in a violent manner and has a hatred for his father which spawned through the loss of his mother and sister.
The leading female has problems at home, her mother is deceased and must deal with her lazy lay about wannabe gangster brother and her father who can't accept his wife has passed.
The two leads form a type of friendship despite their ages and lives are so different, they somehow find a connection but its not through their chance meeting. As the story progresses you find out they've been linked to each other for a lot longer.

Overall: Breathless is a well written, well directed, and brilliantly acted out movie. The characters are believable and are both likeable, and detestable.
This is just another example of why the East is taking over in cinema, Breathless is another great example of great originality and brilliant narrative writing.
