The Human Contract

Basically I'd watch a lot of films if they starred the amazingly sexy Paz Vega, but I loved this film on its own merits. It's a sultry, modern day film noir which reminded me at times of Mulholland Drive etc - so anyone needing their fix of portrayals of the seedy and dark underbelly which lurks just beneath the surface should definitely seek this out. Plus it co-stars 'Stringer Bell from The Wire' Idris Elba, who adds another great performance to his belt, and Ted Danson! (who's actually really surprising in a role which is nothing like his character from Cheers.

There are so many things wrong with this film that it becomes difficult to know where to start. The only good point is the film is well acted. The story is dire and the only thing worse than the phoney intellectual nonsense that the "interesting" woman spouts is the fact that all the characters are so unlikable, The film leaves you waiting for something to happen right up until the end credits roll. Pointless sex scenes look like a farce. Unfunny, unclear dramatic nonsense. AVOID

I saw this film not too long ago. I was dying to find out how Jada Pinkett-Smith combines her writing and directing talents as she delivers this kind of film noir with a bit of sexual elements and other stuff twisted around into this movie. I must admit, she did pretty well for this flick. It kind of worked. Not for a woman who's married to one of the hottest and most bankable stars in Hollywood.
It's Ok. Although I sat and watched through the movie without reaching for the remote button.
By the way, there was a 'Behind-the-scenes' footage on there, whereas some of the DVD magazines stated there was none.
