With his trademark shaggy blonde hair, granny glasses and pure impassioned voice, John Denver rose from obscurity to become one of the giants of country and western music.

Denver lived a turbulent life and dies a tragic, premature death, but his songs - and legacy continue to enrich the world. 'Take Me Home' traces the triumphs and tragedies that inspired his songs: his struggle for recognition, his troubled relationship with his military father, his passionate dedication to good causes and how his love of singing tore him apart from the love of his life, Annie.
Based on Denver's autobiography and featuring some of his greatest songs.

I don't watch many movies but like the reviewer above I caught it on tv a little while ago, however I thought it was brilliant, I didn't know who john denver was but the movie was so poignant with some really special moments and now poems prayers and promises is like the second most played song on my ipod!

I watched this on TV recently and it is terrible! Wooden acting, riddled with cliches and some terrible miming. Looks like it was made in about 2 weeks on a budget of £134.76. If you are a fan of John Denver (and I'm not) avoid this and get something else. Even if its something you don't like, it will be better than this!

 this is far out!!

I have watched this film several times over the years and never tire of watching it. It can be an emotional experience watching the break up of John's marriage to Annie and as the film progresses you realise that Annie was the true love of John Denver's life. I can't listen to 'Annie's Song' now without thinking about much John truely loved Annie.

A true must for all fans of John Denver and his music.

Henry John Deutchendorf started his career in music as a guitar-strumming folkie who got his first big break as a member of the Chad Mitchell Trio in the early 1960s; with the dawn of the 1970s, as John Denver he became one of the biggest and most recognizable figures in popular music, and this made-for-TV drama examines his life and career both on and off-stage. Born the son of an Air Force pilot (Gerald McRaney), John Denver (Chad Lowe) sought the approval of his father, who didn't think much of his son's desire to become a musician. But once Denver heard his calling, he hit the road, first with the Chad Mitchell Trio and later as a solo act. Along the way, Denver met Annie (Kristin Davis), whom he would later marry and who would inspire one of his best-known songs. After several years of struggle with the death of his farther his emotionlism got the better off him and his depression this caused the marrige to annie to unfold denver tryed to reasure annie by writting her a song famisly known as annies song but this didnt work and the marrige came to an end later on with his touring of his music denver met an austrain wowman casandra who he later marryed and had kids with again but sadly with his devion to music his marrige to cassandra came to an end and out of that he started drinking and got a dui with caused him to have a crimanl record he later bought an experimental aircraft and named it after his farther and his wife annie but sadly on october 12, 1997 at miday john denver chad lowe died in his experimental aircraft his grave is on the hill side at montreal bay over looking the ocean his songs and his words and his work will always continue to enrich the word for years to come
