Review

From the poverty and despair of a small industrial town, one man with a dream forms a boxing club to give troubled teenagers self-respect and a fighting chance. But amidst the triumph of the biggest tournament of their lives, tragedy strikes. The hard lesson learned is that anything is possible, but only if you believe in yourself.

Another Meadows classic and possibly a little under rated (and under seen) compared to his others. With a typically British cast, dark settings and uncompromising dialogue Meadows pulls off a sort of love affair between a man and his surroundings. Meadows' films seem to be a lot about modern-day heroes and this is no different. Other than Hoskins you will recognise some of the faces and will be impressed with their performances. For £2.99 this is a steal!! Buy it, get some cold beers in and settle down for a visual delight.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Brilliant Film!

Ah come, on... get over it... no-one will call you for watching a 'modern' film done in monochrome... this is a corker!

It's got Bob Hoskins in it, in a more subtler role than some of his more brutal potrayals.

There's some cracking dialogue in there, which is what you come to expect off Shane Meadows.

It's... well, it's RUDDY CHEAP to buy, so instead of reading my review, get clicking and get it ordered!

:)

Neil.

P.S. On more thing - you've the added bonus of a commentary and a 'short' featuring Paddy Considine - what more do you want for your money?
