If you fancy something bright, modern and Japanese then this is for you. Director Tetsuya Nakashima's extremely colourful (and I mean colourful - don't turn the brightness level up on the TV)smash hit in Japan is a huge comedic slice of modern Japanese popculture. Hugely enjoyable and well worth watching. Tetsuya Nakashima went on to direct Memories of Matasuko (a black comedy musical), which if you like Kamikaze Girls, is a definite must see.

From the opening scene I knew this was going to be a great movie, it was bright, off the wall and brilliant in all ways.
Shot in a very cartoonish way which you feel only a Japanese director could pull off, it grabs your attention early and sucks you right in. It has you laughing within seconds, the outrageous and fun techniques used are oiginal and brilliant.
The story is well written, the lead character is very interesting and although you'd expect her to just be a basic no brainer she's actually very deep. The other characters are also interesting, each has their own speciality which makes them like no others in any other movie.
The directing is Superb, it's stylish, cool, artistic and most of all... Fun. It's a breath of fresh air to the average dramas which are released every year.

Overall: Kamikaze Girls is a brilliant movie, absolutely outstanding and like nothing else you'll ever see. The story is entirely original, the directing is something which you've never experienced before and they all join together to make an interesting and most of all, Entertaining movie.
The time will fly by when you're watching this movie and as soon as it finishes you'll want to watch all over again, not a dull moment. Brilliant from start to finish.
