  A film about very little

| | See all JPMurtagh's reviews (33)

This is in no way related to zombies so I'm not sure why some have mentioned this. It is a bout a viral infection that has ravaged America at least. The story follows two brothers and their girlfriends but nothing much really happens at all and the story goes nowhere. Avoid.

  Solid little movie

The concept, lets be honest, is far from original. A group people, trying to survive in a ravaged land. The world has been decimated by a lethal virus, but this film has very little to do with the virus itself, but has much more to do with human nature and the way that under the most extreme of circumstances, people choose, or are forced to do the most extreme things. This is a nice change as there are plenty of films where the protagonists are attacked by the infected, think 28days later, The Crazies and Dawn of the Dead. With elements from all the above, with the road movie element paying homage to Mad Max, Carriers is well made, well acted and for three quid, its well worth a look.

  RUBBISH

My range of taste varies, filmwise.
So i wasnt expecting anything in particular.
I felt like i'd turned it on half way through and when it ended i felt like i'd missed something.
Wouldnt bother there's a reason its so cheap after not being out for long.

  Believable refreshing change

Good story with a believable thread. No cliches or cartoon horror nonsense as expected. There's a lot to this story including satellite characters that make an appearance, even one character for only a few seconds on the radio. The film does better than most in making the viewer wonder what would you do in the same situation. A steady paced film but surprisingly good. Worth seeing

  Can't Trust Anyone

This film is different to the many other zombie and virus movies out there, this one is more about friendship and loyalty and doing what they have to, to survive. I do warn you, if you're looking for a good zombie slasher film this one isn't for you, as once they're dead, they stay that way, But I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  Virus with a difference

Here we have nothing new, it seems like your typical a virus wiping out all of mankind, there's no cure and in no time at all the whole of the human race will be extinct kind of movie. But theres something different about the Carriers, something that gives it edge.
There are no zombies in this movie, its just a virus that causes people to die and once they're gone they're gone. The style is ultimately asking the question of, when there's nowhere left to go where do you go? When there's nothing left to do what do you do, and when there's no one left who do you ask for help?
It's a movie filled with drama, a lot of moments which'll have you feeling down in the dumps and some more cheerful moments which balance it out.

Overall: Carriers is a good movie, it looks like a lot of other movies, it has a story like a lot of other movies, but its not like them, its a little different and special. It's more of a thought-provoking film which'll make you ask yourself, "what would i do?"

  A refreshing absence of lunatics

I loved this movie.

What is interesting about this film -unlike a lot of survivor movies- is there are no extreme characters, no nutty army major who had too much bad dope in Nam, no psycho murdering religious freak or their ilk that always mess it up for everyone else. The movie is populated with normal but different people trying to do the best they can.

My friend said she would across fire for her children, this film explores -faced with a similarly motivated person- how far are people willing to tread.

The acting is great, the production is solid. No cheesy lines, bad lighting or ketchup for blood. You do not get the bold spectacles like the 'London' scene in 28 days but the feel is replicated by setting the film in the rural south.

Watch it.

  28 Days Later without zombies

Basically it was like 28 days later without the infected coming back to life to eat the living. Trailer made the film look promising but as the review below says, slow and boring.

  slow and boring

I saw the trailer to this film and it did look very promising but it was very disappointing. The makers cashed in on the success of Chris Pine in Star Trek (this film was made before Star Trek) which i have to admit was one of the factors why i considered buying it.

I spent the whole movie waiting for that moment where the film suddenly takes off. But it never came, it was a zombie movie without the zombies essentially it was just slow and boring i thought. which followed four people on a road trip.
