Harrison Ford takes over from Alec Baldwin as CIA analyst Jack Ryan.Based on Tom Clancy's novel.
Ryan is caught up in the middle a IRA plot to assinate a member of the royal family outside Buckingham Palace. Ryan Thwart's the attack and in doing so kills one of the terrorist's. Now it's personal as the unhinged memeber of the IRA ( Sean Bean) is out for revenge as it was his younger brother Ryan killed. The plot may be silly, and the American view of the Irish is over simplified to the extreme. But that does not stop this from being a taut,action-packed thriller.
With an outstanding silent attack by the SAS on a Terrorist camp, viewed on monitors, shows the film does not need massive action sequences to entertain and dazzle. Harrison ford is great as Ryan. But the film is let down by a over egged finale on the boats.
This film may be dated with its politics, but is still very entertaing.
