An excellent film version of Shaffer's play. Burton plays the part of troubled psychiatrist desperaely trying to understand why Firth would have wanted to lind six horses with a metal spike. Cliched in places particualr with the revealment that it is all about sex, but the film is held perfectly together by excellent performances from Burton and Firth. Supported well by Colin Blakely and Joan Plowright as Firth's parents.
