The best of all the Leone Westerns.Shot in his usual take your time fashion.Once upon A Time starts slowly and heads toward a memorable finale between The legends that are Bronson and the usually Blue eyed good guy Henry Fonda, who here plays the Baddest of Bad guys.Add to this the genius that is Morricone and you find that music is just as important as pictures.Leone I feel is a required taste because of the time he takes to build characters up and fill out the story, but this truly is a Masterpiece.

Truly one of the greatest Westerns ever made. The scenery, score and acting make this a must for every film enthusiasts collection.
The first 20 minutes build up the tension to an unbelievable piece of cinema history...

This is an amazing piece of film making which came within a whisker of topping Sergio Leone's previous epic westerns (the good, the bad & the ugly etc). Charlie Bronson gives a career best performance playing a intriguing harmonica playing gunslinger, Henry Fonda the dangerous blued eyed bad guy & Claudia Cardinale as the beautiful widow. Great story, scipt & a superb Ennio Morricone soundtrack, films don't get much better than this. Simply one of the best of all time.........

  Play it again Harmonica Man

From the chilling start and the amazing cinematography through to one of the greatest endings to a movie I have ever seen this is a work of art. Leone's finest moment, Bronson's finest moment, Fonda's finest moment and Morricone's finest moment. The echoes of the Harmonica as the harbinger of death still send shivers down my spine.

  An all-time classic

Henry Fonda cast against type, Charles Bronson at his squintiest best, a beardy Jason Robards, and the delightful Claudia Cardinale all under the watchful eye of Sergio Leone & accompanied by some of Morricone's finest work.

The quintessential Western with a cast to die for. If you're looking for an introduction to the genre, you're in the right place.

  A real epic western classic

After watching Sergio Leone's Once upon a time in America I decided to watch Once upon a time in the west, and how good of a film it is. Exciting scenes and a great cast, you will certainly want to watch this again. This has to be one of the best spaghetti westerns, as you dont really feel its a spaghetti western, in my opinion. Henry Fonda was also a real credit to the film, suited the role perfectly. Overall, a MUST watch if you love westerns. Spaghetti western or not.

  a classic western

there's not much to say about this movie, only that it may be the quintessence of the western genre.
sergio leone made his masterpiece with this one: it contains a good story, the typical westerns characters (the good and the bad and the not so good and the not so bad afterall), the performances of the leading actors are convincing and the soundtrack perfectly matches the pace of the movie.
don't let me be misunderstood: this is one of the classic western movies, and not without reason!
