Inspired by actual events, Unstoppable is an adrenaline rush fuelled by director Tony Scott's signature mark of propulsive action rooted in the reality of ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances. A veteran train engineer (Denzel Washington) and a young conductor (Chris Pine) race the clock to stop an unmanned runaway train - effectively a missile the size of a skyscraper - and prevent disaster in a heavily populated area.

If you are looking for a great disaster film that doesnt try to destroy the planet like in Roland Emmerich films then this would be just the movie and better still a film directed by action junkie Tony Scott. The film is brilliant as a train carrying tons of diesel and toxic waste is unmanned and has no air brakes through a Pennsylvania district and the damage threat is catastrophic. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine decide to chase after it and avert the danger. It is action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times and provides the perfect piece of popcorn entertainment. Enjoy

I as really impressed with this movie, as I was fully entertained, even though I knew what was gonna happen at the end.
Was expecting a straight forward 3 star movie, but just ended up enjoying it a bit more than that.
The story is very straightforward, and once rolling, gathers momentum nicely.
The Direction is assured and to the point.
The performances are good, Denzel does his everyman thing very well, and Chris Pine supports him well.
Rosario Dawson is good in a small role, but the real star of the show for me was the guy who plays NED. He was just hilarious.
This is the 2nd time Director Tony Scott and Denzel have made a train movie, and it was much better than their last effort, the average Taking of Pelham 123.
To be honest, the reason I think it was better than I expected was because of the lack of Special Effects.
Nice to watch a Action Movie not fully loaded with Computer Effects for a change.
Recommended.

I have seen many train movies, and I heard great things about this movie, but I have never been more frustrated and felt pain in my throat from shouting at the TV.

I have read what really happened, and this movie takes that basic premise and turns it into what would be a big blockbuster, but fails drastically..

The opening scenes looked promising, and then what occurred at the ending basically meant you feel you wasted 89 minutes of your life.

The train could have been stopped multiple ways, multiple times and at the cost of no lives, sure it may have been a dull and short movie if that was the case, but i feel like this movie made those that are calling the shots amazing dumb with not a shred of common sense and i fear this is reflected in modern times.

Tony Scott's best action movie since "Man On Fire"

"Unstoppable" is inspired by a true story in the fact that someone really did lose a train that big although it was travelling at 10 mph not the film's 70 mph. That is where the realism ends, this is a Tony Scott film, and I am a huge fan of the Director, as he likes to shoot things for real with minimal CGI. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine are a great pairing on screen and there solid and comical performances make the film, as well as superb support from Rosario Dawson. The cinematography is stunning and the use of real pyrotechnics makes this a real thrillride. Great action film that does what it says on the tin- don't go expecting Sense and Sensibility because this is not that. This is the joint second-best Scott-Washington film with 2004's "Man on Fire" level and 1995's "Crimson Tide" being the best. In short, brilliant popcorn movie that is great fun.
