again another classic that no one has rated! this film in my opinion boasts one of the greatest acting performances of all time, cathy bates as annie(oscar nominated for best actress)she gives an unbelieveable performance as a nurse who rescues her fav writer(paul sheldon) from a car crash in the snow, takes him back to her secluded lodge and starts to nurse him back to health as she cant get to a hospital(or at least thats wot she tells him)paul has just wrote a new book in which annies fav character misery, dies.he gives her the honour of being the first to read the book as she rescued him, but when she finds out hes killed her fav character off, things get pretty nasty!!!!i wont say any more, just watch and enjoy, oh and you'll never want to see a sledge hammer ever again after watching this!!!!!

 Fantastic movie, but...

Ok. It was a very nicely priced dvd, but I was looking forward to all the exciting bonus material. The only bonus on this dvd is a trailer. Nothing else even if it is written on the sleve!

Never go driving in a snowstorm.....look what happens!

Again, one of the most impressive adaptions of a Stephen King story put to film. Novelist Paul Sheldon crashes his car in a whiteout and gets rescued by Annie Wilkes. Who claims to be his greatest fan. Upon discovering his plans for her favourite character her care of Paul takes a twisted turn towards the deadly....

Taking the simplest of ideas - two people in a house, one dependent on the other for care - and ratcheting up the tension as events play out is one of the essences of horror. Matched up with the subplot of an old but smart town Sherriff who investigates when Paul is reported missing you have an effective tension based horror.

It's not surprising Bates won an Oscar for her work - her creation remains as memorable as Anthony Hopkins work as Hannibal Lecter - as she transforms in front of your eyes from carer to killer you don't doubt a moment of it!

A classy adaption from a classy novel. This is one of the best Stephen King adaptions, and still after all these years it thrills and shocks, but always keeps the viewer coming back for more. Both funny and shocking, this thriller is even better than Silence Of The Lambs, that was released around the same time.
Bate's is the ultimate nut job, but some how you can't help but like the nurse from hell.
Outstanding acting, brilliant tight direction and a slick script, that makes this one of the best thrillers in the past twenty years.
