 Love Rhod

Rhod is a great observational comedian and after watching the Award Winning Mince Pie I had had high expectations and was not dissappointed.

He comments about real world situations that annoy us all had me in stitches especially his rant about Washing Machines and as with his Mince Pie DVD he manages to pull the stories together at the end, a must watch.

No as good as i thought

I couldnt wait to watch this dvd, i've seen rhod on various tv things and people have given him good reviews. I just think this wasnt the best stand up dvd, he goes on about washing machines for about 15mins and by all accounts he did the same on his last tour. He's not really a joke teller more about tell how his life is going. Its still worth watching and if you like that kind of comedy then buy it, but i wish i didnt to be honest as i wont be watching this again.

 Lacks tempo and variety

Sadly this in one of the few comedy DVD's I haven't been able to get through. Rhod makes some cracking and clever observations but its packed out with way too much anger and misery.

This show starts off as he means to continue, after a 10 minute opening salvo upon a fella in the first few rows, Rhod is already puffing and out of breath. Sadly, thats where it stays.

I like angry comedians, Bill Hicks being the greatest, but where Bill could envelope you into his stories and build up to a shouting fit, Rhod goes for 5th gear straight away. After an hour, you've had more than enough.

Its a great shame because Rhod's jokes are very clever and he has some wonderful witty responses to the crowd. He's at his best when he's responding to crowd calls, but everything is let down by his single monotone tempo. He doesn't tell any light hearted stories, or slow build to a major angry punchline. He picks a simple topic and rants and full volume for 5 minutes on it, before perhaps finishing on a very very witty phrase or punchline. So much is lost to the shouting and seeing Rhod seriously out of breath and panting hard just goes to reinforce what I was thinking..... "Calm down, get your breath back and turn the volume down to 7!"

All in all, a missed chance at a DVD. This is defo a 5 star disc for some people, but for those who have seen bits of Rhod on quiz com's here and there. Give this a miss, but keep your eyes peeled. Rhod has the makings of a great comedian if he just learns how to tell proper stories.

 Amazingly funny

Went to see the show in Aylesbury last night & he was excellent, an amazingly funny guy! Haven't laughed so much in ages. The theatre had problems with their lighting system & he was able to bring that into the comedy!

The funniest comedy show of the year

I saw Rhod Gilbert doing this show at the Sheffield Comedy Festival and he was by far the funniest of all the big-name comedians I saw. I don't think I stopped laughing in two hours,

This is easily the best comedy show of 2010 and worth every penny to relive that experience.

 Amazingly funny!

i went to see this tour when he came to my town and i spent the whole night laughing, as did the rest of the audience. rhod very rarely even stops to breathe and he incorporated some good audience interaction into the show.

all of the people i went with agreed that it was Rhod at his best and i would reccomd this tour to any one who loves non-stop humour with original material.

Angry has never been so funny!

I saw Rhod in Hammersmith, and beyond doubt, he's the angriest, and most pent-up aggressive comedian on the curcuit today. The sketch with his horse is unquestionably genius!

 Gimme and gimme NOW!

I've seen the show, it's awesome. Glad to hear there's to be a DVD to bring back memories of the Edinburgh Fringe Fesitval.
