This is probaby one of the best known HK action flicks, and its easy to see why. John Woo displays his prowess with action movies effortlessly with this film, the formula being spot on in terms of its stylish look, actors, action choreography and story. Chow Yun Fat and Tony Leung make excellent leads, the former being at the peak of his game. If only Hollywood could produce films as good as this!

A truly superb slice of action cinema, and one which I also think is Woo's finest achievement, even stacked against 'The Killer'. A more accomplished, frenetic ballet of blood and bullets has never been committed to celluloid, and probably never will be!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Amazing, incredible - watch it then play the game! :)

Wow, this is one of Woo's finest. Spectacular action sequences packed to the brim with explosives and then some!

Along with Woo's impeccable directorship, this is without a doubt Chow yun fat's best performance, a classic.

A legendary and controversial movie back in the days and still is, an endless stream of fans awaiting for more, a sequel perhaps? Who knows but in the meantime, they've created a game based on the movie.

Titled STRANGLEHOLD (for PS3, 360 & PC), this is game is all about next-gen, real time damage physics (bullets and bodywise), countless enemies, this game does the movie justice and beyond. Think of it as an inspiration to the Max Payne games with a hint of Tequila! Yes indeed, a lethal combination!

So, overall then, if you're into no brains die hard action combined with a fantastic and convincing storyline then this is the movie for you! Watch the movie, then play the game or play it first or whichever, just make sure you don't miss out! :)

what a great movie eh? if you watch it and you look on in awe as the body count hits seven odd figures you think yeah!! this movie is a cracker! watching the spectacular gunfights and the amazing stunt choreography is almost tiring to watch, can't wait for stranglehold!
but be careful when buying this film, if you buy a version that only comes with the english dubbed Version and not the cantonese, then it will be a spoilt pleasure, the english acting ruins it, watch with the subtitles and you WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!

BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is how an action movie should be, really well made and almost poetic, can extreme violence be beautiful ? Well in this film then yes it can, great story and brilliant cast, ideal for an introduction into asain cinema

This film has the most action i have never seen in any movie, and i have seen alot. Its got like 18 minutes out of 2 hrs of talking in the entire movie. Woo/Fats best movie! The dubbing in the film rubbish though, however quantity and quality of the action in it makes up for everything. No holds barred gun fights, all out mayhem! Absolute legendary movie.
