Camp Crystal Lake has a bad history. A history drenched in blood. For over 20 years no-one has disturbed its deathly silence... until now. Often imitated but never equalled, Friday The 13th is a relentless exercise in sustained terror. Unlike the luckless teenagers who go to Camp Crystal Lake, it will live forever as the most shocking film of its kind.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

Lets face it, this very low budget slaher would never win any oscars. But what it does give you is plenty of nasty death's and some very good shocks. The ending is a master class in shock tactics. This movie spawned many pathetic sequels and imitators, although not in the same class as Halloween, this slasher aimed at the drive in craze is a very effective slasher, although audiences not old enough to be brought up with Jason and his Psycho mother, may look at this as very amaturish. But for those of us who grew up on these cheap slaughter house movies, will relish every blood soaked minute.
A great retro slasher!

 AN ALL TIME CLASSIC SLASHER!!!

Between the 70s and 80s there were 3 brilliant slasher franchises between "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Halloween" and this film. Jason Voorhees is a demented serial killer who goes around killing teens who visit Camp Crystal Lake the very place drowned when he was a child. In this film you dont see him till the very end but that actually helps the film in the long run.....brilliant all time classic. Enjoy

 I NEED A SLASH!

Welcome Slasher fans to the movie that started it all. Back in the 80's this "LOW-BUDGET-BLOODBATH" carved a new kind of Fear into the minds of cinema goers when it was released to an unprepared public. With it's crazy sound (ch,ch,ch,ch,ch) and some of the goriest deaths of the decade, many viewers were left with some serious Gravy stains in their underwear, and fingers that were chewn down to bloody stumps. This was due mainly to a clever use of fear through tension in the hellacious build-up to each kill, at times it's almost unbearable and for a movie that's almost 30 years old it holds it's own against all-comers, even now. Watch this movie and witness the birth of a true "Horror Icon" MR. JASON VORHEES, the retarded Freak-Bag who took a severe beating with the Ugly Stick upon birth and now stalks anyone who is slightly better looking than he is. Zombie-Nosh advises for this one - get some thick anti-chew gloves and say hello to the master of the Slashers, J.V. - and remember - if your ugly your safe - but if your pretty - your dead!

i recently bought this, as the remake has just been released and i wanted to see the original before the remake, so i could compare them and so :).

This film is great, and one of the best slasher movies ever. i would recommend it to anyone who is in to the horror genre. it is filmed very well with great camera angles, which adds to the suspense and tension of who the killer is.

One more thing, i knew who the killer was before i'd seen the film, but if you don't know who the killer is. DON'T READ THE SYNOPSIS ON THE BACK OF THE DVD CASE. it tells you, which is stupid, and i imagine being very frustrating.
