Melanie Carmicheal (Reese Witherspoon) is a New York fashion designer with the ideal glamourous life; beautiful, successful and newly engaged to perfect-on-paper bachelor Andrew (Patrick Dempsey). All would be perfect if not for her past life with Jake (Josh Lucas), the redneck husband she married in high school who refuses to give her a divorce.
When the too-good-to-be-true Andrew, son of Mayor Kate Hennings (Candice Bergen) sweeps her off her feet by proposing, Melanie goes back to her roots to track down her estranged husband and fix the only obstacle in her path to her future happiness. Initially frustrated by her old memories Melanie slowly warms to and accepts her past as a necessary part of her future...

This film is brillient if your feeling a bit rubbish or are having a quiet night in. Brillaint actors and very comical scenes make this film one of the best. The film is very easy to follow and not too confusing either. The film goes from being really sad one minute to being laugh out loud funny the next. Strongly recommend you buying this film!!

I first watch this the other day when it was on the BBC as i am a big lover of rom-coms and plus it had my favourite actress in it.. Reece Witherspoon. Well what can i say a fantasitc movie with a great set of cast including Josh Lucas and Patrick Dempsey. Great movie to watch on a lazy sunday afternoon with the family. Would recommend! Buy!

Reese Witherspoon, what can I say........LOVE HER! I love lots of people, I know, lol, she is my fourth fave actress (Liv Tyler, Scarlett Jonhansson, Kate Hudson then Reese)! I think she is an incredible actress and this film is one of her best!! I love rom coms and this doesnt disappoint, it is great!
I love the whole storyline, and that Patrick Dempsey, Woo! What a Hottie!! But im glad the way the film turns out, it was the right ending!
The story is unquie, and all the characters are great! You can laugh and cry at this film (but not in a really bad way) and Bobby Ray is really sweet! The ending of the film is really sweet too! Watch it, you'll love it!!!
