After the Night, after the Dawn, after the Day... comes an epic fight for survival in the realm of the undead.

Transporting a valuable human cargo of state prisoners across a hazardous war zone, a group Interpol mercenaries headed by Agents Reyes and Milius are forced to make an unscheduled detour when they encounter the remnants of a catastrophic ecological disaster.

Trapped is a hazardous wasteland, miles from help and civilization, they find themselves besieged by a vast army of rampaging, blood-thirsty mutants, ravenous creatures who will stop at nothing to devour every morsel of human flesh in sight.

As Reyes and Milius fight for their lives and to protect their precious cargo, they realize their only chance for escape is in joining forces with the treacherous criminals in their care. But these men have a past as deadly and terrifying as the monsters out for their blood.

Starring the original zombie slayer, Dawn Of The Dead's Ken Foree: the apocalypse has begun.

Awesome zombie film - just like the original and greatest

This film has everything you could ask for from a low budget zombie horror film, which is basically GORE GALORE. The people who made it have obviously seen a lot of old horror films and really know what they're doing in making a film that's similar to them as well as being something new and original. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and more. A perfect slice of blood splattered nastiness that will make you cringe, laugh, jump and squirm in your seat. Brilliant stuff.

 Night Of The Living Serbs.....

First of all don't let the cover artwork fool you for a second, just like The Zombie Diaries the artwork is really cool and high budget looking but has basically nothing to do with the movie-except for the zombies of coarse. The cover art for Apocalypse Of The Dead would lead most people to believe that it's a cross between I Am Legend and Doomsday-far from it!Although the Brooklyn bridge is in the background the entire film is set in Serbia or somewhere in eastern Europe. It also has an entire eastern European cast, crew and director except for the two main leads-horror icon Ken Foree and Kristina Klebe who starred in Rob Zombie's Halloween.A fairly decent story, good special effects and plenty of gore makes this film a lot better than most of the low budget zombie flicks that have been coming out recently. The only fault i had with it apart from the misleading cover is that sometimes during the film it looks as if some of the actors are dubbed over in english, but i still thought it was kind of cool because it reminded me of watching the classic Italian zombie films. This was released as Zone Of The Dead in the states and i believe its getting a bit of a cult following, mainly due to Ken Foree being the main star and associate producer, and i hear the sequal Wrath Of The Dead is in the works. If your a fan of Romero and Fulci this film is definitely worth a look.

 Why the bad reviews?

Just sat thriugh 96 mins of a very good serbian attempt in zombie horror. If you are a zombie film fan then don't bother with reading the bad reviews on this film.It is low budget, it is however a good low budget movie. If you can sit through dawn of the dead which also stars Ken Foree, you will be able to watch this and like it.I agree there is a lot of tripe out there regarding zombie film mania. But lets remember out of all the monster horrors zombie films are the most frequently made and remade. It will be hard to to make a original and unique zombie flick, there are just too many around. This movie is very watchable, you can't expect a massive well known cast, with special effects like star wars on such a budget.Everyone involved with this film has made a good film here.It gets 4 stars for being a good zombie flick, not brilliant. Also cos i think the other reviewers are expecting too much for under a fiver.God has the recession really hit us that bad?

Not as bad as some reviews make out

for a zombie movie its quite odd for the first 20 mins. its filmed in Serbia and you struggle to tell if its been dubbed into English or Serbian as some characters mouths move with no sound but then others lips sync perfectly with the voice. once it gets going it certainly gets better and the zombies are pretty good for the low budget. Their never gonna win an oscar although the last hour kept me involved. The women are attractive and there's the token nutbag to dispatch the Zombies which certainly improves things.
As a zombie fan i'll give it 3 stars as its way better than hundreds of films in the genre which I wont name in the hope you never discover them. For non zombie fans please dont bother, stick to the main stream bigger budget films like Shaun of the dead and Zombieland as they are certainly way better .

So much promise So little achieved

| | See all Grizzerlyadams's reviews (42)

This film had so much promise but in the end failed badly. It has a few good points though and those are an above average plot, fair special effects and two good actors. These do not carry the rest of the disasters that this film has from bad script, terrible actors chosen for their looks rather than acting ability and unfortunately a lighting supervisor who has no idea how to light films which as a result destroys the general mood of the film. In my mind this film could have been so much more. So in short if you are a zombie film fan watch this as it will come up on not a few of zombie horror quiz nights. If you are not a zombie fan and are just looking for a good horror AVOID this film like it was indeed infected!
