What a cast, what a brilliantly acted film. Not aimed at the usual gangster medium but the older genre, those who have lived a life! It made you think. Not recommended for those who don't like thinking.

 A Very Interesting Psychological Drama

Like everyone else I was expecting a hard as nails London Based Gangster epic after viewing the Trailer for this movie.
And I can see why a lot of people have been disappointed with the movie. But I DID like it.
I enjoyed it quite simply as it had me Intrigued as to what was going to happen, with these bunch of charcters. I found it Suspenseful and Clever.
They story is as slight as anything you can imagine. But the beauty is in the Psychological Drama that is presented.
It reminded me of Reservoir Dogs to be honest. Obviously not as good but same kinda genre.
The Acting was Brilliant by Stephen Dillane, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane and Tom Wilkinson.
But the STANDOUT by a Country Mile was the terrifying John Hurt. Reminded me very much of Ben Kingsley in sexy Beast.
The Dialogues were just crazy and the C word was used very liberally and to great effect.
Anyway my point is that if you watch this with the right expectations, you could have a nice little surprise on your hands.
And also the title 44 Inch Chest. Genius.

 A Fantastic Situation Drama!

Unlike most gangster films the majority of scenes in this movie take place in a room in a derelict house. This movie fits snugly into a new genre of British Gangster Movies as did City Rats. Rather than continuous violence, it shows that even the meanest men in town have hearts. Ray Winstone is superb as the heart broken, yet menacing, bad man - verbally abused continuously (for his own good) by the hilariously foul mouthed John Hurt. Ian McShane injects a flavour of diversity into the gangster world harping back to one of the Kray brothers. This movie is superbly shot with an incredibly humorous script. Please buy this DVD - you will love every second.

The film is'nt about guns and action, this is a slow paced film with not a big cast in it,its about love and relationships with the emotion that comes with it when a marriage is over.I wacthed this with my girlfreind and oddly i found the film quite romantic besides the "f-in" and blinding it is true to life and was very funny at times and we both enjoyed this.
Ray Winston was a superb act, perhaps the daddy of brit gangstery films. Its not a film i could wacth again but was worth the lesson and i thought the bluray picture was good quality.

 Excellent

Not a typical gangster film.

44 inch chest explores relationships within a small group of men who help their friend Colin (Ray Winstone) when his wife cheats on him with a French waiter. Ian McShane, John Hurt and Tom Wilkinson give flawless performances of extremely diverse characters.

This film is rife with phenomenal monologues, intimate scenes, exquisite flashbacks and a great sense of claustrophobia that creates a heavily brutal and raw atmosphere.

A must have for fans of films such as Love, Honour and Obey and Sexy Beast. This film does not deliver on an all action, "shoot - em - up" sense but that is quite clearly not it's intention.

A very different movie experience.
