I really loved these episodes and the songs are great.
However lots of people seem to think that sectionals was the end of season 1. For those who don't know there are still about 10 eps left and personally I'd wait until you can get them all together
Im a teenage boy and was like.. Is it possible to actually like this musical teenage american stuff? Of course! I never wanted to admit it, but im a total glee addict. I can't wait for more!
After the first 10 mins of episdoe 1 i knew i was gonna love it. and i did. Watch all episodes so far and they are all great. if ur not a Gleek you will be.
After being forced to watch all 3 High School Musical films amongst friends who love the franchise and sitting there thinking, am I the only one? The idea of a TV series similar to that of the movies did not appeal to me in the slightest BUT! And that's a big but, this is fantastic! It's so much more than HSM, it provides you with laughs, admirable covers of well known songs and a brilliant story line that leaves you gagging for more. The Glee creators have really struck gold here.
Note: Jane Lynch (The Cheerleader Coach) is hilarious in this.
Let's see, I think it took about the first half of episode one to be pretty much converted into a 'Gleeker' and fall under the spell this unashamedly bright fun and yet also scalpel sharp satirical combination of High School Musical, Fame and series creator Ryan Murphy's less well known TV series 'Popular' from about ten years ago, weaves on the viewer!
The hardships of school life, finding your path, being yourself and doing what you want to do of all the kids is mixed in with the adult characters who are having all the same problems - just the adult versions of them.
The cast is superb, and while some are better singers than others non are at all bad (Lea Michele is a standout) and the musical numbers are fantastic - from a melancholy 'Take a Bow' sung solo to the hysterical sight of a football team doing the Beyonce 'Single Ladies' dance on a football field!. They are also varied, from classic musical numbers to contemporary pop and classic rock and toe-tapping in the extreme!
Thankfully, the potential for nothing but sugary sweetness is balanced by the superbly cutting Jane Lynch ('Try living with Hepatitis - that's hard!) as the gym teacher nemesis of the Glee club and some healthy one-liners along the way that keep up the laughs.
One of the best new 'fun' shows of the year!
