There are four kinds of alien encounters. The fourth kind is abduction.

In remote Alaska, citizens have been mysteriously vanishing since the 1960s. Despite multiple FBI investigations, the truth behind the phenomena had never been discovered... until now.

While videotaping therapy sessions with traumatized patients, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich - Resident Evil) unwittingly exposes terrifying revelations of multiple victims whose claims of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details.

Based on actual case studies, The Fourth Kind uses Dr. Tyler's never-before-seen archival footage alongside dramatic reenactments to present some of the most disturbing evidence ever documented in this provocative sci-fi thriller.

Since i saw the trailer for this film i have been looking forward to seeing it so much so i imported it on Region 1 DVD.
After seeing some of the mixed reviews for this on other websites i was worried that it could turn out to be a bit of a turkey.
Yes the film is fiction it is drummed up to be real but the characters and the case studies are fake but the set up of this film is spot on.
The film cleverly moves between the case studies and the film with great ease and most importantly sticks to how people have described alien encounters and abductions very well.
I am a huge fan of The X Files and love anything to do with aliens and alien abduction and i found this film to be quite good. The story kept me interested throughout and some of the case study films are simply shocking you can really imagine them being real.
If your a fan of sci fi or alien films i would recomended The Fourth Kind to you it is a good watch and will keep your interest peaked throughout.

After reading the mixed review, I saw this fact based movie with an open mind.
Yes the trailer is miss-leading, but the movie it self is a gripping reconstruction of Alien abductions in a small Alaskan town.
What makes this movie stand out from the similar Communion and Fire In The Sky, is that the movie reconstructions is spliced with supposed actual recorded footage of the regression sessions, and these do make for a very unnerving experience. I view the subject matter with an open mind, and will only believe in it if I see it, but the movie was so well handled, and never falls into being over dramatic, it even made me doubt my out sceptic point of view. To inpound it even more I suggest you listen as the end credits roll out, with of the recordings of so called witnesses. The movie may not change your opinion on the matter, but it will make you look at the stars morecarefully.
"We are not alone?".......you decide!

This film is very scary!! Kept me gripped and made me sleep with the light on, if your open minded and interested in the idea of UFOs and aliens, or if your open minded and just like a scare, this is definitely for you! If your a very skeptical person and from the very off, and you would be trying to find reasons to disbelieve it from the start then save your money and time. 5 stars!!!! Kept my light on while I was asleep for weeks. Left me speachless. Love it!!!!!!
