I Love You Phillip Morris

The first half of this film is quite funny and I enjoyed it a lot, then - suddenly - in the middle of the film there is a complete shift of category; the film turns into a tragic drama. That has never been a recipe for a good film. And that is unfortunately the case for this film as well.

This film is wrongly labelled as a comedy, it also has phrasings such as 'best Carey comedy', 'Jim Carey returns to form', as good as 'trueman show'.
These are all very, VERY wrong.
The film is a dark tale of a man's obsession with another man, and the cons he will commit to be closer to him.
The 'hillarity' begins when our lovable con artist cons people of their money, with even more 'hilarious' results!
The 'laughs' then come thick and fast when he goes through some 'funny' situations to get back with his lover.
All allow us to get to the ending which made us 'roll on the floor laughing'.
So yeah, just replace hilarity with disturbance, laughs with vomit and funny with highly inappropriate. Oh and roll on the floor laughing with caused us to be disillusioned not only with people's concepts of comedy but also with film, people and life.
I guess this film is enjoyable if you like a comedy that is dark, inappropriate, unfunny and depressing.
Don't watch this if you like Jim Carey's previous comedies which are the best because they're innocent and fun.

i love this film its really funny and jim carey and ewan mcgregger are brilliant in this. The ending was brilliant if you're a jim carey fan you wont be dissappointed.

Jim Carery never failed to make you laugh. Such a good story and well acted. Very funy and sweet.

Wow. Completely different side to Jim Carrey and really shows how he doesn't just have the one "Ace" character as many people assume. Really clever storyline with quite a surprising ending. Agree with a previous review in that it reminded me of Catch Me If You Can - this guy was clearly very intelligent. I'm not sure if this is the type of film you would watch on many occasions, however definitely worth watching.

Must see, Jim Carrey never fails too deliver! Would say its one of his best performances! Up there with The trueman show!

Really enjoyable and indeed touching at times. Great acting by the 2 leads and very funny at times.

When I first saw the trailer for this film I wanted to see it, based on a true story it is remarkable how these some may call far fetched events are actually true. Like in Catch Me If You Can the lead character is very clever and quick thinking, which provides the viewer with a Wow feeling. The film has everything hysterics, emotion and of course a good love story. If you like Jim Carrey or a fan of Catch Me If You Can then this is the film for you!

When this first started playing i thought this might be a bad film, but when you watch it all - it in fact is a clever film. The story could have been a bit better but its well worth the money.
I would gladly watch this again.

I'm not a huge Jim fan (sorry) and prefer less facial expressions. So I watched this with some intrepidation. What a surprise. This is an odd film and yet the funniest I have seen in ages. The unusual story line, based on a true story I understand, had me doubting I'd enjoy it to begin with, and I roared with laughter through out although not sure because I was shocked and not expecting the content or because it was genuinely funny - both probably. You really must see this film.....
