Classic - if you aren't too concerned with realism!!

If you like your TV viewing to be realistic then this is not the series for you. However, if you like a fun, slightly cheesy programme for good escapism then you need this DVD.

Crime Traveller is a reverse murder-mystery series that really gets you thinking. There are some excellent twists in the tale and the series is really good fun!

If you like Jonathan Creek or Bugs then this could be for you!

 Fanbloomingtastic!!!

This has got to be one of the best BBC Saurday night shows ever!!!
Simple premise, Two detectives are able to go back in time to solve various crimes.
Michael French & Chloe Annett have a real chemistry between them, & Sue Johnson is hilarious as their boss.
Such a shame that only 8 episodes were ever made & not many people remember this series when you ask them.
If you like Dr. Who, I think you will love this and for under a tenner you cannot go wrong.
Only complaint is that there a virtually no extras on the DVD, which is a real pity because surely this is going to be a cult classic one day.
Just buy this & enjoy.

 A forgotten classic!

When I was 10 years old I was completely blown away by this underrated BBC 1 seies.I can still remember watching it at around 8pm on Saturday nights.Former 'Eastenders ' star Michael French and Chloe Annett from 'Red Dwarf' made a great team as Jeff Slade and Holly Turner as they solved crimes by using Hollys' fathers' time machine. The thing that annoyed me is that this brilliant show wasn't commisioned for a second series while inferior shows such as 'Bugs' were!!!Today programs like the modern 'Dr Who' have completely copied the style of this little treasure. Buy it

 Doctor Who?

Long before the days of David Tennant playing the Doctor, and sci-fi shows such as Primeval, existed a wonderful little show that few seem to remember called Crime Traveller. Written by the same guy who now writes Midsomer Murders and starring ex-Eastenders actor Michael French and Red Dwarf's Chloe Annett, this Saturday night prime time delight was a rare gem in a long run of other less worthy BBC science fiction shows.
The show's premise was simply the solving of crimes through the ability to time travel into the past. Jeff Slade (French) is a cocky detective who with the help of police medical officer Holly Turner (Annett), who's father built a time machine, solve their cases by making sure they are always in the right place at the right time. Of course things don't always go to plan, and there are often more twists and turns than a country road. But things always come together and make sense in the end, like in all great detective shows.
Don't get me wrong, the last few series of Doctor Who have improved Saturday viewing no end. But even this mighty series churns out more than a few lousy episodes. This never happened with Crime Traveller. Each episode was cleverly written with plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. And there was always a clever twist to bring everything together at the end of an episode. And even though this show was originally transmitted just over twelve years ago, it has certainly aged well. Sometimes shows we remember as being fantastic become less so when we re-watch them. But having just re-watched Crime Traveller, I can honestly say that the show could have been made last week, ignoring the occasional dodgy fashion trend.
Now here's the bad news. Like so many other great shows that bite the bullet, Crime Traveller only ran for eight episodes, so this DVD is all that will ever be. I remember at the end of the first series, waiting in eager anticipation for the second, but sadly, it inexplicably never happened.
But no matter. At fifty minutes long, every episode is like a well plotted mini movie, and thankfully the series ends neatly and doesn't make the mistake of ending on a cliff hanger, so you will not feel disappointed when you realise there is no more to come.
In my opinion Crime Traveller was better than all the original Doctor Who episodes put together, and possibly better than some of the new episodes. Who knows, if the BBC had given it a chance it could have still been running today. Sadly we will never know. But for mercy's sake buy this DVD, or you will never know how good this show was, and at very least, you can own forever a bit of TV history that should have been legend.

 THIS WAS A BRILLIANT SHOW

This was a brilliant show, with great actors (Michael French, Chloe Annett and Sue Johnson) and great stories. One of my favorites. I was disappointed that it didn't get a second series but I have recently bought the DVD boxset and I am obsessed with it all over again. I have already watched all 8 episodes three times. Pure brilliance. For one series, this is definitely worth having in your DVD collection if you are a detective/sci-fi fan.
