Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Best Sci-Fi ever!

This sci-fi series, although dated, is the greatest sci-fi series ever, and beats such classics as Star Wars and Doctor Who. The original series is far and away better than GINO (the new series, Galactica In Name Only). I watched this as a kid in the 90's and still love it now.

The characters are solid, especially Starbuck, who could never be successfully re-cast. The Von Daniken premise is fascinating and used very well, especially in the two-parter War of the Gods, which are the best episodes of the original series. OK, so the effects are re-used, but the footage hasn't aged much since it first appeared.

Nothing, however, beats The Return of Starbuck in Galactica 1980. Buying the Galactica 1980 set is worth it for that one episode alone. This, coupled with the original series, is an awesome story.

Overall a brilliant series.

This is, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the new ones. This has people dressed up in costumes as the other alien races and is not dominated by CGI

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars The original SciFi - The best and will never be matched...

Ok - in todays world not as good as the new series, but for when this was made it was leaps ahead of Star-Wars !! - now that says alot i know, and i am sure to be argued with on that statement, but it was and still is the greatest Sci-Fi ever.. Total must see for all new fans of the new BattleStar.... Buy this its totally worth watching.. Enjoy...
