I remeber watching this as a kid before the new series (BRILLIANT) so i brought this..

1st. it has "Battlestar Galactica the movie" as the first three episodes anyway so dont buy the film seperate waste of money as its exactly the same" learn from my mistake whoops

2nd. What a classic... but the graphics ergh so poor compared to now...in what 30-40 years what a difference in technology makes the original ancient...

when you watch this compared with the new one you see what the makers have changed to make it better...its still good the original

Excellent Family Entertainment Despite Its Age

Can you sit an 8 year old kid in front of the TV to watch the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica? No. Can you sit them down in front of the CLASSIC show? Absolutely, and whats more they will enjoy it too.

Though am sure to many the re-imagined series is mannar from heaven I personally still prefer the original.

Sure the FX age it and many of the attitudes have changed towards women, but you have to remember that back in the 70's it was all going through a transitional period and the original show in spite of its faults did actually present one of the first positive female role models with Commander Sheba who was played to great effect by Anne Lockheart.

The FX are no worse than the FX would be in the original Star Wars trilogy had George Lucus had not updated them.

The one area that this show did suffer blatently apart a few turkeys in the story telling department was an reliance upon stock footage of viper fly bys which were used over and over.

The original series represents a more romantic and idealistic age in American Television.

Much of the new show is kind of too gritty for a vast majority of the original fan base to stomach and the only antidote is to re - watch the original. Though the newer version does address some of the flaws which effected the original, but also has developed flaws of its own too.

The original SciFi - The best and will never be matched...

Ok - in todays world not as good as the new series, but for when this was made it was leaps ahead of Star-Wars !! - now that says alot i know, and i am sure to be argued with on that statement, but it was and still is the greatest Sci-Fi ever.. Total must see for all new fans of the new BattleStar.... Buy this its totally worth watching.. Enjoy...

 Scifi at its Best

Many people may say that this was a copy cat rip off to Star Wars. I think not. Its quality scifi with good special effects that still hold up today. It was a shame it ended to soon. A great cast and some good stories.

In my opion there is only one Starbuck and its the Face Man himself.

The New Battlestar can not touch this. Becasue this is quailty Scifi with actors living and breathing life into it and also giving the characters human quailties.

If you want space action and adventure then buy this classic tv show.

This, in my opinion, is head and shoulders above the new one.
This is mostly becouse it is not dominated by CGI.
