There are many versions of this classic Bronte novel, but what drew me to this one was its promise of telling the complete story. That, along with a potentially amazing cast was all the convincing I needed.
This film does indeed follow the book as best it can. The very start and very end are spoken by 'Emily' herself, but we are also introduced to Mr Lockwood who is in all the narrator in the book. It follows Heathcliff from his arrival to his death.
I was not dissapointed by the actors, though I felt Cathy's continual giggling wasn't needed to show her character. Fiennes makes a fantastic Heathcliff, in that at so many times you hate him, yet still feel pity for him. Even the minor characters are well portrayed, with Juliette Binoche playing both Cathy and Cathrine.
If you are after an adaptation of this novel that stays true to the entire story, this is the one to buy. If you are after constant thrills an action, I would look elsewhere.
