Ok, so I didn't know anything about this show , saw it on offer and thought I'd give it a good as other reviews mentioned it was like some other shows I like. I was a bit apprehensive, thinking this is gonna be some trying to be too cool gay show, the sort of thing that is normally cringe-worthy. But thankfully it turned out to be brilliant. It was so good I ended up staying up far too long to watch the whole series in one night.
If you like This Life, Attachments, The L Word and want a show that is funny, touching, cool and fairly realistic - this is the one for you.
The characters are brill - varied and not stereotyped. Excellent acting all around, especially from main character Frankie. Ok, so they basically picked the character of Shane up from the L Word and put her into another show, blonde and with an English accent, but when something isn't broke - don't fix it. Saying that, the characters have much more depth and the story line will keep you transfixed for the whole series.
I totally recommend this, despite my initial misgivings and can't wait for the 2nd series, which was recently confirmed by the Beeb.
Happy viewing.

This series was awesome and compulsive viewing, I've not got the DVD yet as waiting for Santa to do his part!
Anyone who isn't up to speed (for some unknown reason) might want to give some feedback a miss so as not to spoil the surprises....
However, this show gives a true insight in to gay life in Britain and deals with real issues. It's funny, serious, sad and happy all at the same time. The cast are admirable as well as adorable, bring on series 2!!!

  Brilliant

This drama is about complicated relationships that just happen to be predominantly lesbian. It reminds me of the cult series" This Life". I found all the characters compelling, especially Frankie as she is so screwed up! Can't wait for series 2.First class drama.

  Bring on series 2!

I waited all year for this to be screened on BBC3 and wasn't disappointed. Harriet Braun who has written for Mistresses and Hotel Babylon has created one terrific show. Okay, it is being compared to the L Word, but I found Lip Service more enticing, the characters feel more real and despite some being compared to those in the L Word i.e Frankie being like Shane, they come across as more complex with that little bit more depth. The storyline follows photographer Frankie returning from a couple of years absence in New York to attend the funeral of her aunt and consequently unravel a mystery revolving around her past. Her re-appearance affects the life of her ex, Cat and her relationship with new love Sam. We also meet the endearing, yet unlucky in love Tess who starts a relationship with closeted TV presenter Lou, while her best friend Ed secretly longs to be with her and Jay- the womaniser who seems to have settled down. Overall a great 6 episodes and I hope we have a well deserved second series to look forward to.
