From the very first pilot episode of series 1 i knew i could rely on LOST to give me a great sense of satisfaction after each episode i watched. This particular season starts, near enough, where the second one ended, the action hits us immediatley and the secrets, plot twists and alternate reality timelines come rushing towards us at an unstoppable rate. The writeres must be absolute geniuses, because they have created the most unique and the single greatest show that was ever and will ever be made. Its a shame they only decided to do six seasons, if they had chosen to do more the seasons my have dwindled slightly, the posititve factor to only six seasons is the fact that we wont have to wait anymore for answers and the action stays unique in each episode. This marvellous series has absolutely no equal it could knock even the most famous and most watched shows off the pitch without even flexing a muscle.
This season gives us answers to some of the most pressing questions of its previous seasons, we get triple the action of all the seaons, more great characters, more explosive storylines and a brilliant beginning to the end of a television breakthrough, i cannot wait until the finale to get my answers, but i'll be so dissapointed when LOST ends, every time i here it mentioned i will remember that brilliant show that made me so happy.
4-8-15-16-23-43...
secrets revealed, destiny lost, destiny found.
Overall this is a good series with some loose ends tied up and a lot of classic Lost twists. However, the fact that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse repeatedly said they knew the ending from the start, i don't believe, because so many questions were left unanswered, questions i REALLY wanted to know the answers to. It just feels that they had a good idea how to end series 6 but not how to end Lost Itself.
Having said this i was moved by the finale, but ultimately i feel disappointed that they just didn't have an explanation or a hidden piece of the puzzle left to show us that would help us understand or at least answer a few questions for ourselves.
I'm still, even after thinking about it for this long, undecided as to whether i am happy lost ended with the mystery still alive or whether i feel robbed that there never really was a central idea or explanation to the shows mysteries (i get that its all about the characters relationships blah blah and i like that part but i still want to to know about hurley's chuffing numbers, or why the bird said his name, who built the statue etc etc). Today im leaning more towards the disappointed side so i give it a 3 star rating. However, on days where im glad the island is still a mystery i give it 5 stars.
I hope this review makes sense, or at least as much sense as Lost does...
'LOST' is simply the best television series of all time and is a superbly written and acted drama that pushes the boundaries of what is achievable in series produced for television . I was hooked from the opening episode to the final one, ignore the critics and immerse yourself in the whole series including this stunning series 6.
When the finale aired, you could almost hear the 'clang' of a dozen open storylines being dropped, and the collective 'slap' of 2 million viewers hitting their foreheads in disbelief when they realised they had been conned.
Let me be clear, I loved Lost, more than any other program ever made. I was devoted to this show. That is why I felt so betrayed and let down by the final episode. In fact, the rot set in from the very beginning of this series, it all started to feel panicked and rushed, with convenient new ideas thrown in to tie up lose ends at random. It quickly became clear that the entire solution was going to be a monumental bodge job.
The Island remains a mystery because they simply could not be bothered to explain it. Buy this boxset for completeness, but don't expect a satisfying conclusion.
I only played the game once and loved it so I went out a bought seasons 1 - 5 and once you get through the first few episodes where it is kinda bad it is fantastic, I already had this season pre ordered months ago and and counting down, the ending is strange but after you really think about it it is awesome, I would totally recommend buying this and every other season of LOST because you really would be missing our if you didnt!!
