Longtime Shrek character Puss in Boots gets his own starring role and proves that as they go, this is one spin off that ends up being more enjoyable than the last of couple of Shrek films proved to be.
Thankfully letting go of it's reliance on pop-culture gags the way the Shrek Franchise came to the sheer delight of this film is that it actually has a story and that it relies much more on traditional humour and situations than you might expect, as our hero (voiced wonderfully again by Antonio Banderas) fights to clear his name and regain his honour from a youthful event that made him the cat he is today!
Perhaps that's why I enjoyed it so much. I was expecting something like Shrek 5 almost and actually got taken in by a very nicely written, performed and well animated and made film.
Perfect for the family!
