This has to be Marvels best movie to date, awesome action from start to finish, great effects, great cast, all the stars did their bit, Iron-man and the Hulk steal the show especially the hulk with his mighty smashing screen presence!! There is plenty of great humour too, all the characters have great shared screen time and the pacing of the film is great even though its on for so long, this is truly an epic comic book movie and a must see for any fan.

Although this film has some great moments ,Hulk 2008 and Iron Man one are far better movies ,they have more depth and you can laugh when you want ,not when youe supposed to as in The Avengers,no real use of Paltrow and RDJ was the only real presence throughout film ,takes far too long to get going and then its at best Transformers meets Hulk which is best Character in film, i would expect the Mavel book to be much better read ,Spiderman for me still is the best adaptation to screen as has more People relationship film making essence, Only scene i remember is Harry Dean Stanton ,Good but not that great ,6/10

with two iron man , Captain America , Thor and a hulk movie all giving snippets of a avengers movie and finally its here . A few give off Edward Norton not playing the hulk as much as i think he is amazing actor mark Ruffalo pulls of a better job as Banner and the first actor to play hulk and they manage to make hulk look like Banner also perhaps the best hulk i have seen so far . Joss Wheadon done an amazing job to gel the team together he has done x-men comics so i was glad he took the job on this. he managed to give each hero moments in the movie so who ever favourite hero is you will not be disappointed . Joss manages to keep each hero true to the other movies ie iron man with jokes , Captain America with his Loyalty to america. Even the lesser heroes like Fury , Hawkeye and Black Widow all get enough screen to keep fans of those entertained . heroes Clash in this movie and we see some fights between these which are great and funny at times. near the end Captain America gets show us his leadership which he pulls of well and shows the team acting like team rather than them wanting to work on their own. The humour is tongue in cheek which the lines are given to Iron man mostly and it works well and hulk has a few laugh out loud moments. This movie has it all action , comedy , great effects and most of all the bringing together of the heroes works amazing . Joss weadon did an outstanding job and watch end credits as it will keep fans excited for maybe a sequel , with iron man 3 , Captain America 2 and thor 2, and spider man on the way and hopefully a Hulk done like he is in this movie this will keep marvel fans happy and those that just love the movies entertained for a few years to come . marvel has finally made a movie that is the best to date and there has been many marvel movies and this tops them all , they should have Joss weadon direct them all , but as they say we cant win them all. Best comic movie to date just beats Dark Knight and thats saying something.

Just found out that in the UK we aren't getting any of the special features, including the highly anticipated Director's Commentary. America is getting the lot.

Brits will have to fork out for a more expensive offering down the line. And we'll do it too, because we're gullible idiots and we like abuse.

 A soaraway success!

After four years, five lead in films and the weight of just how the Marvel Cinematic Universe would all be pulled together into one single film.............Joss Whedon came along and delivered The Avengers..........and made it look like making it work was the easiest thing in the world!!

Now I have very mixed opinions on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first phase of films introducing each main character, as some have been better than others, and I confess that because of that I did not have the highest of expectations when I went in to see that..............nothwithstanding that I know Joss Whedon has talent and love his TV series.

Even at that, I was massively and purely entertained by this blast of pop summer Blockbuster perfection. THIS is what so many other summer films have aspired to in recent years, where characters and a story come first and then the spectacle comes second. In the order that it should be! Whedon does make a few stumbles in the first half hour or so as he weaves together the introduction of the film's familiar villain, then Tony Stark (with a nice cameo from an Iron Man co-star), and the others. Once he's done that, however and he has every character together comes what is actually my favourite segment of the film as each character is allowed to meet, appraise and THEN call out each other on their natures. It's also laugh out loud in places thanks to Whedon's trademark quips and the delivery of some the cast (Chris Hemsworth gets a perfect line to deliver at one point and does it hilariously!) before the action packed finale sets off and while it may be fair to say that parts of the extended action finale in New York may echo Micheal Bay and Transformers, you'll find that while the action is just as spectacular you'll care a bit more about who is in the middle of it all.

All in, this is by far the summer blockbuster of the year, light in tone, but with everything that a FUN summer film should have in abundance! It's almost a shame that Whedon can't get involved in more of the films but if anything is certain, it's that he's GOT to be locked down to write and direct The Avengers sequel, because it's his work that made this film the delight it was!
