Hollywood icons Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and Peter O'Toole star in the screen adaptation of Dylan Thomas's classic play. A celebration of life and death, the film follows the people and events in a small Welsh harbour village, from one spring to the next. Captain Cat, the blind sea captain, awake or asleep, yearns for Rosie Probert, the greatest passion of his youth. Burton plays the key role of the first voice, an all-seeing compassionate narrator.

It Should Be Good

It should be good but it doesn't really work for me. It's an excellent cast Burton Taylor O'Toole in one of the finest works ever written in Dylan's classic Under Milk Wood; but for me it is a as Dylan said a "play for voices" it works best in audio format and the attempt to realise this as a film just doesn't seem to gell as wel as the past radio versions of the work have. Interesting as a piece of film history and for those interested in Dylan Thomas' work but other than that holds little interest.
