Do you want to know how much Simon Cowell pays publicist Max Clifford? Or what the PR guru does to protect one of his influential clients who enjoys sex in public places? Would you like to know what Samuel L Jackson, Clint Eastwood, Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes think about celebrity culture and their fans? Or how about learning how to make a quick £600 for a fake story that a reporter is too lazy to substantiate? All is revealed in Starsuckers, the highly controversial documentary about a media obsessed by celebrity.

Previously unseen bonus footage available exclusively on this DVD includes some tongue-in-cheek interviews with 50 Cent, Samuel L Jackson, Keira Knightley, Clint Eastwood, Emma Watson, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Chris Noth, Jennifer Tilly, William Moseley, Eddie Izzard and Ralph Fiennes talking and their relationship with fame and their fans.
From Chris Atkins, the director of BAFTA-nominated Taking Liberties, Starsuckers is a fascinating journey into the dark underbelly of modern media, uncovering the real reasons for our addiction to fame and blowing the lid on the corporations and individuals who profit from it as well as members of the public that are duped by the media machine.

A covert operation filmed over a two-year period, the film uses a combination of previously unseen footage, undercover reporting and stunts that fool the public and the media alike as well as animation to reveal the toxic effect that the media is having on all of us including our children. It also argues how truth has become a distant memory in some modern news reporting and presentation, and climaxes with shocking revelations about Live 8.
  • Audio commentary with director Chris Atkins and producer Christina Slater
  • Companion booklet written by Chris Atkins
  • 100 minutes of previously unseen video footage of celebrity interviews

or whatever the line in 'The Wizard of Oz' is as he tries to distract & scare them with smoke & mirrors.

This is an excellent documentary which looks behind the celebrity obsessions of the media machine & its lack of self reflection as it casts aside 'news' for gossip & forms alliances with politics & big business.

Similar in approach to the likes of 'The Corporation', 'McLibel' & 'Michael Moore's, 'The Big One', or books like 'Fast Food Nation' & 'Nickel & Dime'.

Questions things like the motives behind the timing of 'Live 8' & the figures behind some of the companies involved & how the urge for greater headlines is at the expense of Truth & how much of the 'news' is really just there to stop you really questioning what's really going on.

Loved it, not conspiracy theory, but if you like to question what you're told & the motives behind it, you'll enjoy this a lot.

THE DOCUMENTARY YOU NEED TO SEE, BUT YOU WONT SEE IT ON TV.

If you watch TV you need to see this documentary. It gives us, the unwitting consumers of the cleverly engineered celebrity culture in the mainstream media today, the opportunity to see how the huge media corporations(with help from the PR companies) keep our attention, keep us wanting more, keep us chasing the dream they created for us and ultimately keep us paying to consume their product.

Dont put this film on your list films to watch before you die, WATCH IT NOW. You deserve to know the truth about what you read in your newspapers and watch on your TV screens.

After all, YOU pay for it.
